1) get lift kit
2) put ebin grill on there X----DDD
3) put ebin dragon in tail gate (optional)

It's your truck but honestly, don't black out your lights.
Also, I wouldn't lift it anymore than a leveling kit.
And for the love of god, no fender flares, it just makes the truck look cheap and shitty.
>>
>>13947498
that only makes sense for a girl's truck
>>
>>13947498
Get it straight piped though, that's pretty cool.
Also, don't do the LED lightbar in the grill, get a sweet roll bar or something and get a bunch of Hella's

OK when it's ready you will all see. I don't have a fur coat onesie though
>>
>>13947512
Unless you slap some huge tires on it, you gain hardly any extra true ground clearance. In short, it puts the least amount of stress on suspension components for the most visual improvement. It also will help with departure angles if you do take it offroad. Pretty much it's the best bang for your buck for a mallcrawler. Then again, it's your truck, do as you please with it.

Pic sort of related to what i was talking about
>>
>>13947532
That's about as much as I'd ever lift a truck
>>
>>13947532
OK thanks. Planning on 305/55r20. I shouldn't have rubbing with a level kit eh?
>>
>>13947544
Can't say for certain because it all depends on your model/year. Turn your wheel all the way in one direction and see how much room you have. For every centimeter of room, you can go up a size like 285, 295, 305, 315 etc
>>
>>13947559
I do a lot of highway driving and I don't want to fuck up my front end if I punt a deer. Would you suggest a bull bar or replacement bumper? Will I lose a tonne of fuel economy with the weight of a bumper?
>>
>>13947592
Yeah you could probably get a bull bar. Trust me, your truck already weighs over two tons, it won't hardly notice something like that.
This works well with some very tight beam spotlights on the roll bar. They'll allow you to see a pair of deer eyes from very far away. A LED bar will just flood the area 100 ft infront of you.
>>
>>13947612
Spotlights for length and light bar for width. What kind of brand?

Generally speaking, (good) lift kits do not have any noteworthy affect on suspension component wear, and do not give any axle to ground clearance. Tires alone are responsible for both of those, with the lift making room for larger tires. There's also wheel width, offset, etc. to take into account for wear but all you really need to know is don't poke the tires out too far. All else equal, 3/4 ton and 1 ton suspension will hold up notably better than a 1/2 ton under the same conditions.

A true leveling kit will hurt departure angle, not improve it.

Also, that pic is at least a 4" lift.

>>13947730
What most people are referring to when they bring up bull bars are only for aesthetics or light mounting. Grill guards (especially ones with winch mounts) are usually a bit more sturdy but a full replacement bumper is the best option if you're really looking for protection.
>>
Brotruck recipe:
>Lift Kit
Essential. Without it you simply cant have a "bro" truck.
>Fat tires
For traversing mall parking lots with out fear.
>Riveted Wheels
You know, generally black wheels, must have the screws/rivets on them.
>Light Bar
Gotta make sure you can see the highway when driving, and ya know, blind every other fucking motorist.

Get a 6" Rough Country lift, 20x9 chrome XD rockstars, cheap ass mud terrains, bushwacker plastic fender flares (not colormatched), light off of ebay that you won't even wire up, a completely useless bull bar, sawed off exhaust, and massive costa and yeti stickers on the back glass. I don't know if it can get more brotruck than this.
>>
Make sure to use blocks, because your just doing it for looks.
>>
>>13952622
generally speaking, you should have no problem fitting a 305/55R20 with a leveling kit but you will have to do some research to find out what kind of wheel dimensions will work. you may need lower offset than stock to compensate for the wider tire and prevent rubbing against the suspension components, but at the same time you will have to make sure you're not pushing it out to the point where it will rub your inner fender when you turn the wheel.
>>
>>13947508
>Get it straight piped though, that's pretty cool.
No, it's fucking annoying. This is coming from a guy with a tasteful, mostly stock looking diesel truck that is tuned to make ~500whp, I welded up a new exhaust system that has 3 straight through mufflers because I fucking hate listening to all of these faggot brotruckers going WOT from every light with their straight pipes, diesel or gasoline.

How bad is a levelling kit for cv angles?
>>
>>13952659

>>
>>13952688
hardly if anything. Although note stock the CVs will be level and ANY lift is going to throw them out of level which will equate to excessive boot wear over time. Do you have a 4 wheel drive?

>>13952568

Not necessarily

>if i raise the front end does that make it a "prerunner"

>>13952739
On my truck it's generally agreed >3" of lift means you want a differential drop, but even then, the differential drop kits are really full of their own issues. I'd say check out a specific enthusiast forum for your truck and get their input on that specifically. Each vehicle is a little different.
>>
>>13952719
>Although note stock the CVs will be level and ANY lift is going to throw them out of level
Wrong

A real lift kit will drop the entire front driveline, and will retain correct CV angles, it's when people get coil spacers or turn their torsion keys up that you get incorrect angles.

this is correct, I lifted the front of my truck with coilovers and got a torn CV boot at 15k miles. joke's on me.
>>
>>13952778
>a real lift kit
No it won't. On independent front suspension with 4WD the most common lifting method aside from spacers of ANY sort is using coilovers with adjustable springs. This lifting method does essentially the same thing as spacers by reducing downtravel (which in IFS can only be fixed by widening the arms/front-end track) and pushing the hub lower than the differential.

Except it's not because for about the same price as coilovers, you can get a drop bracket lift kit, which provides way more lift, which is all a lot of bro truckers care about
>>
>>13952813
>implying anything I said is wrong
A drop bracket isn't a "real lift kit" fag, it's a way of realigning the CV angles by dropping the differential even lower below the frame.

Wow.

The fact is: a drop bracket lift only serves to keep CV angles in alignment with hugely faggot lift applications. Drop brackets "allow" you to fit more lift because the CV joints wont be twisted to all fuck. They're still faggot. You're still a faggot.

>>
>>13952949
>drop bracket lift better than anything
I literally only agree with you on this if you're referring to mall crawler faggot builds as I've said, it's a faggot thing to do. If you go anywhere near a dirt road it is LARGELY agreed on that a lost CV boot is easier to fix than a differential.
>>
>>13952965
Eh, as long as you keep your cadillac converter, it's not stupid loud. I cut my muffler off 'cause it was about to fall off anyway and now it's quieter than when it had an exhaust leak with the muffler.

My buddy had a shop do a legitimate muffler delete and just replaced it with a piece of pipe. Mine is much quieter, I don't even understand how that works...
>>
>>13953002
A truck with a drop bracket lift kit has the same ground clearance as a stock height truck on the same tire size. But, drop bracket lift kits allow for bigger tiers, which allow for more ground clearance than stock.

>>13953046
ANY lift is going to change the way that truck feels. Period. Especially if you're putting on heavier tires.
>>
>>13952801
So you're confident enough in your knowledge to argue with people but don't even know about drop bracket lifts?

>>13952825
Which is the exact same thing 99.9% of lift kits on the market do. Dropping the axle/suspension in relation to the frame lifts the vehicle, hence the name lift kit.

>>13952841
>kit that lifts the vehicle
>calling it anything other than a lift kit

>>13952912
A drop bracket lift serves to keep CV angles and angle related wear in check by keeping the correct CV angle at the specified lift amount, be that 4" or 14".
Lifts that do not do that are increasing wear on CVs and generally reducing wheel travel as well.
>>
Make sure you buy some tires with sick treads so everyone can hear how dope your truck is on the freeway. They may wear out in a few months, but it's totally worth it.
>>
>>13953067
The way the lift works, the diff stays the same distance from the ground while the rest of the truck goes up. Pick related, the diff isn't hanging down or vulnerable, but rather it is the same height as stock if not further from the ground do to larger tires

You know you can't use those on the road, right? And if you're talking about a brush guard, it will make anything you hit that is more than a stock hurt your truck worse. Retrofit you headlights like pic related because it is so much nicer.
>>
>>13965088
I'm talking about pic related. As for the light bar it's only illegal, it can still be used. I do a lot of highway driving at night.

Those headlights look custom and pricey. I can cut into mine with a dremel myself and save money.

lightbars are shit for night driving.
Theyre good for off road, reverse, or work lighting, but they dont "throw" like a pair of pencil beams

unscientific pic related, i can post the full copypasta i wrote before about this if you want

lol, no it wont. Unless you hit something hard enough to generate enough force to bend your frame, that shit ain't going nowhere.

Pretty much the ideal light SUV with a massive aftermarket and great reliability. Guys over on top gear couldnt say enough about them, they are bullet proof.
If you want to be a flashy bitch, get a 5th gen and do gay stuff to it.
If you want a superior earth roving vehicle, get any 4runner. Parts are cheep and there is a ton of online info on modding it yourself.

pic related, i take mine off road though.

I would never buy a truck to get better fuel economy, handling, or lower drag. That's retarded. It's a truck.
But making it fucking better than stock mustn't be a bad idea.

I could imagine myself towing racecars to local racetracks hundreds of miles away with a lowered truck. That doesn't kill me on gas or have barely any feedback of the road.

Doesn't seem like a bad idea at all.
Why are you so against it?

Follow the rich douche with no class formula

If 1/2 ton truck
>6 inch lift
>20 inch wheels
>35 inch tires

if 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck
>6 inch lift
>22 inch wheels
>37 inch tires

agreed. a tasteful level kit or even 2-4 inch lift with 31-33 inch tires looks way better to me than a 6-8 inch lift with 35-37 inch tires.
It's way more practical, way more stable and safe if you plan on daily driving it.
it's also hundreds of dollars cheaper in parts, tires, gas, maintenance, etc.
>>
>>13970071
>no class

Maybe that's a classy sort of thing in these parts. Too much lift or scraping bumpers looks shitty both ways.

>>13970046
I'm not. Your pic looks really good actually. I automatically assumed you meant slammed when you said lowered. It's what most people mean. Pic related is attractive

>wants to build a brotruck after I finish my degree and start making dat oilfield money
thousands of southerners make this mistake every year. They call i that being "nigger rich"
that truck will have to be financed for 72-84 months. If you make the mistake of financing your aftermarket stuff, which a lot of people do, you'll end up way upside down in the loan, financing like $60-80k on a $45-50k truck.
Then you're either laid off from the oil field and can't make your $1,500/monthly payment.
God forbid you drive drunk one night or hit a deer or flip it in a ditch or some shit and don't have gap insurance. You'll have a wrecked truck that you still owe several thousand dollars. Then you'll have fucked up credit, need some beater truck and have stupid high standards because you've been driving a crazy nice for truck for a few years.
