Truckerfag Thread.

>Want a Class A CDL?
Community college a best, but private schools work. Pay up front or try to get a loan, banks hand them out like candy because many companies will pay you back for paying for your own schooling. Avoid signing a contract or doing company-supplied CDL training, a lot of them are out to fuck your butt.

That sucks.

Also fuck all this black friday stuff. Too expensive. Go to the mall, stop by Dick's just to see if they have any deals, and buy a fishing reel just because it was 50% off. Also diamond earrings, fuck that. Wasted a bunch of time at the mall, didn't see anything I liked, ordered some online for $500.

What is the speed ratio and what type of line are you wrapping it with? Also what you fishing?

And what your prefer fishing set up.

I have a shimano 5.4.1 ratio
7ft berkley ultra light
6lb line with 4lb lead

Is for shore trout fishing. I swear with the 7ft rod with the soft tip i can cast 70yds!

I went to Sawgrass Mills which was a waste because it is mostly outlet shops. Then went to the one in Coral Springs.

>>13946102
5.0:1 ratio. I'll probably put some 10lb Power Pro for bass and whatever. It's a medium-light reel so 4lb-8lb line if using mono.

I still need to grab a rod for it. Dick's didn't have shit for rod selection. Not sure when I will do it since I don't really need it, but now I'm anxious to try it. I'll probably do like a 5'6" Ugly Stik unless something nicer is on sale for around the same price.

I already have 6 other rods set up, plus one more I don't ever use. And that's after giving 3 to my brother a few months ago so he could start fishing. I almost bought pic related too just because of the price. The rod was really nice, but the reel was a piece of shit. I was literally in the check out line with it and was looking at the reel and said fuck it.
>>
>>13946182
I bet Sawgrass was a real shitshow on black friday. It's ridiculous on a normal day.
>>
>>13946190
It was. Going there was a total mistake. And I couldn't figure out how the hell to get out of there and back to my car.

Next time I will just do that mall in Boca on Glades. Coral Ridge wasn't too bad when I went, but it was like 7pm by then.

We now have a rod!

Went on a McD's run, stopped at Walmart across the street on the off chance they have a rod that isn't complete shit and broken. Grabbed some 1pc Berkley 6' rod for $40. I got lucky, half the rods there have the tips broken off and it's lots of $10 POS's or 8' saltwater rods. Saves me a trip to Bass Pro tomorrow.

Now I can go break in the new reel when I wake up tomorrow. Keep on truckin!
>>
>>13946182

O shit good deal because the rod alone are about 60-90 bucks.

But hey what are you fishing? You didt say.

There where some great black friday deals but fuck those lines and people "not anti social" just hate lines and crazy people.

It was alote better to buy stuff online same xbox deals where given on the Microsoft stores and computers where 400 bucks off.

Yeah I hate the lines and stuff too. When I ordered those diamond earrings for my mom, I used a coupon code for 20% off because Black Friday anyway.

Black Friday deals are rarely that great anyway. Not any better than "Labor Day Sale!" And "President's Day Sale!", it's all the same. Plus Bass Pro didn't do a ton of good deals on fishing stuff anyway because it's almost December and not everybody live in Florida.

I normally just fish for bass btw. Peacock and Largemouth. Plus the occaisional snakehead or gar.

I normally do Power Pro. But I wanted to run 15lb and Walmart only had Power Pro in 10lb and 20lb. Sometimes I run an 8lb flouro leader off of there. I have a spool of that Berkley invisible stuff.
>>
>>13946918

Wait ticket counter?

Where there deals or just people getting back home. Why would they be stuck in the cold or pay for airport parking the same day they need tickets or another day.

>>
>>13946943
No, it's just that this is one of the busiest times of the year for flying. Everybody traveling for the holidays. She was flying out of Terminal 4 which is the last one when you're driving around, and it took almost half an hour just to get through the first 3. Airports are horrible because people never have any idea where they are going.

And Fort Lauderdale airport is fairly quiet too compared to Miami or O'Hare which I am used to. So I was suprised to see it so packed. Although that airport just seems to get busier and busier as time goes by because Miami is kind of a pain in the ass.

I love when people around here complain about FLL airport. It's a decent sized international airport but I grew up flying in and out of O'Hare anytime I went somewhere so other airports are a cakewalk.
>>
>>13946955
Yeah any flourocarbon isn't good for much besides leaders in most situations. It is also really heavy so if you are using lures, it will sink them really deep. I did it on one ultralite for a minute before I discovered the wonders of Power Pro.

>>13946962
Automated cars need to be a thing too. As dumb as most truck drivers are, I'm sure they can predict the stupidity of car drivers better than a computer. Plus it isn't really one distribution center to another. Trucks do lots of other things.

Happens all the time. It's probably just one dude.

I'm throwin a leader on this one now. I have the flouro leaders on a couple of rods, and I have never really noticed a difference. We'll see how this one goes.

If I do the canals or swamps, the water is so murky that it doesn't matter. They will see the flash from a silver Mepps before they ever see the line.

But then I have a couple little ponds where in between rain, the water will be really clear. The only thing you can get away with there is a silver or gold Rapala. Sometimes I will do a Power Bait minnow too. It is much harder with lures when it is sunny and the water is really clear. Any spinners will just scare them, especially if it is sunny.
>>
>>13947194

Canals cool you said florida right.

What you have down there. Our canals have catfish. get 4-6 feet long and weigh over 30pds. We also get stripers. Bass of course but not big trophy size.

>>13947402
I haven't seen any stripers here yet. I'm sure there are catfish in the canals, but I normally just use lures for bass so I haven't gotten a cat since I moved here.

I really need to start doing saltwater more or the intercoastal. I live real close to the ocean, but I just don't know what I'm doing when it comes to saltwater. The few times I have gone, I just get little baitfish nibbling at it. Plus I like casting lures rather than sitting around watching the tip of a pole.

Snakeheads can be fun too. Pic related.

I have an IQ of 143 (Stanford-Binet). I know there are other similarly intelligent posters here. I failed out of school because I was fed up with idiot teachers and students, and "advanced" classes that just mean more pointless busywork while dragging out the same boring concepts I'd already understood intuitively before even taking the class. One day you'll grow up and realize how poorly intelligence correlates to being successful (actually, it correlates most strongly with being a Jew).

>>
>>13948611

what is better, rip or ospf?
>>
>>13948611
Of course. If you do something real specific and are determined and know exactly what career you want to get into, college is great.

There are dumb majors. And "Pre-med" isn't even a real major, people normally do biology or something before med school. One of my best friends is a doctor right now (or whatever that step is after you finish classes and work your ass off in the ER for barely any money). But he is specializing in working with kids, especially mentally disabled kids. He worked with them when he was younger and knew exactly what path he wanted to take. Now what he did was actually impressive because he worked his ass off to get a ton of scholarships to Notre Dame undergrad, then got a full ride to med school.

There was some anon who is majoring in art and got really offended when I told him that was a shitty idea. When I worked at Petsmart in HS, most of the managers were art majors who couldn't get a job in their field and were stuck working retail for $12-$15 an hour.
>>

>>13948650

Yeah I went to a liberal arts college for 2 years to get the gen ed stuff taken care of and holy shit the level of ignorance. Some people were convinced that their acting major was going to land them some dream job in Hollywood or wherever. One guy I knew was taking out over $50K in student loans when he transferred to USC. His major? Art.

These are the kind of people that end up being social workers or retail managers.

As someone else here put it, truck driving is the easiest form of working your ass off ever. OTR drivers routinely do days in excess of 14 hours. Even though the driving part may be limited by Hours of Service there's plenty that needs to be done before and after starting your clock. Local jobs will be busting your ass going into shitholes and dropping off/picking up crap for over twelve hours a day. If you're looking for easier and more leisure time, trucking ain't it.

Headed to London, KY Walmart DC with a full 14 hours in front of me. I have a feeling a majority of that will be spent 'on duty'...

Yes. Any time a company hauls for Walmart they must agree to allow them four hours to unload, and they always take their time and use the full four hours. Skyline always tries to drop and hook at Walmart but I've had to live unload before. They also charge a $50 lumper, the assholes.

No. But one of my workmates did. Not his fault, a 4x4 came around a corner too fast and hit him head on.

He got out ok thanks to passersby if they didnt pull him out he would have burnt to death, as he said he tried to kick the windscreen out but couldnt do it. The 4x4 that hit him wasnt as lucky tho.

>>

>>
>>13956807
Are you in the US? Trucking isn't great long-term. I just worked 11hrs in the rain all day.

But anyway, I only see drivers getting paid less and less with more and more restrictions. Only way to make good money is owning your own truck. And even if you do that, you need to be on the road a lot to make real money. If you ever want kids, it will suck.

Stay in school and get a good degree.
>>
>>13956807
What he >>13956827 said. If you believe you can get a degree and a decent paying job, do that. I got into trucking because I'm too impatient to complete a few years and get a degree, tried it before and failed out. I may get some tech related certs and look at office bound jobs in a few years if trucking looks any less appealing then.
>>
>>13945897
why do you guys find any 12v wire to hook your ebay lights up to? i spend hours trying to fix that shit, knock it off
>>
>>13956795

If I ever get laid off, I'd honestly be interested in getting my CDL

I'm not looking at it from a necessity of money, just to do it to see the country if/before I got called back. Same reason why I was mildly interested in the Navy, a job that would provide me an opportunity to leave this place for a while. Military can open many more doors than trucking though lel.
>>
>>13957074
That's why I kinda want to do OTR still for a year or two before I get too old and have kids and stuff.

CDL isn't bad to make some money for a few years, but there isn't a lot of opportunity to move up. Luckily I like driving, I just want to get on something soon where I do more driving and less lifting and shit. I could stick with Pepsi and try to become a salesman or something, but I think I would rather get a different driving job.

There isn't even autonomous yard jockies yet, though there really should be.

If I was more ambitious I would start an electric automated yard horse company.
>>
>>13960529
I would think yard dogs will be the last thing to be automated. It's easy for a computer to maintain speed and stay between the lines on a highway, trailer maneuvers have the most variables, I'd say.
>>
>>13958688
>what are you smoking?
Newports

And you could start your own company in any industry if you wanted to. It's like being a chef, you could always open your own restaurant of you can get the capital, and then you still have to be really lucky and/or good to compete long term.

But how many people actually do that? For 99% of people, owning a truck and doing OTR is the top as far as driving goes. And even then, it would suck to have a family. You have a decent deal going because you are right in the middle of a lot of places so you can be home more than most. But you aren't banking as much trying to be home all the time.

As a company driver, I guess there is always management too if you want to deal with it. But a lot of companies are going to want a degree at some point, or hire somebody with a degree over you even though they have no experience in the field. That's how life works sometimes.

But it's not regulated so you can get right into it.
there is already decent software for cars so I figure with 3 cameras, 1 or 3 radar, and maybe ultrasonic sensors you could do fine, especially with a developed system that includes line painting in the lot, maybe using rid tags for location confirmation.
You could also have a yard where drivers drop and pickup in one lot and all other moves are in an autonomous only area. Walmart would be all over it.
you can also have a troubleshooting and overview system where someone can view the cameras and resolve anything that comes up, as well as issue instructions.

Even office jobs at trucking companies suck pretty bad. My sister was an intern at Schneider for several months and she said everybody there was miserable.

It's possible to start your own company with a few trucks but it's very hard to find drivers that actually want to stay out and earn money - most want to be home every week which doesn't work well when you only have a couple trucks to make money with.

It's more that you'd need to modify an entire fleet of trailers to be compliant with the automation and on average there are about 4 trailers per truck in a fleet it's going to have a huge startup costs. When you could 're design the yard for better flow at a fraction of the cost. Or in reality most management don't give a shit and just cram as many trailers as possible into shitty tiny lots

Honestly buy a trucker atlas every year and use google maps on your smartphone, or just a regular GPS. Truck gps units have always seemed like a huge waste of money, especially if you're long haul and the majority of its existence will be showing you 600 miles before the next exit.

Google maps can (not always) also show you what a location looks like, and you can generally get a pretty good idea of what approach you need. I say not always because sometimes there will be road construction, new building blocking an old entrance, etc.

That said, I've been driving semi-locally and now more locally for the last 3 years and pretty much always have to drive in the inner city and on shittons of groundlevel roads that aren't truck recommended, so I stopped giving a shit about weight limits and size restrictions (other than height) years ago.

>>
how come the amount of trucks on the road greatly diminished at around 4PM? Is that the time drivers usually stop because of limits?
>>
>>13968875
Yeah mostly.
>>
>>13968875
That's within 2 hours of when 90% of business that deal in truckload shipping close. That means all the local guys are either off the road or getting there, and OTR guys are getting loaded/unloaded before they close. 7am-4pm is when drivers like me try to get in an unload and load or vice versa, or if I'm running LTL making 5 stops within 50 miles, so I'm on the road 3-7 times trying to beat that 2pm-6pm deadline so I can get down to my destination after hours. After that I can dick around with things like eating, bowl movements, and sleep. 7pm-7am are the ideal hours for longhaul, so that's most of what you'll see during those times, and with most freight moving over 500 miles going by rail year days, you're seeing fewer and fewer of those.

Is there any upside/downside to having a truck with a flat front as opposed to a "normal" truck?

It seems like you would have more space with the truck with a flat front
>>
>>13972804
You mean a cab-over-engine, compared to a conventional ("long nose") truck?
Older cabovers ride more rough than conventional, but that may no longer be the case with newer models. They also tend to have a shorter wheel base, which makes for tighter turns, which is nice. If you have an older cabover in the states, you can continue driving it, but you can't import them from other countries as far as I'm aware, I believe it's to do with differing environmental laws and restrictions. That said, I'd love a Volvo FH or Scania Streamline, if it weren't for the fact that parts would be hard to come by.
>>
>>13972804
Cab overs are shorter overall, so they can fit in smaller spaces. Generally.

Sometimes they are built like that to free up more space for bigger sleepers on the back.
>>
>>13972843
There's no rule against cabovers.
However, they aren't made in the US, the ones that are made don't bother complying with US emissions regs, and even presuming they did, import tariffs on trucks are insanely high.

However, if you really wanted one and had the cash, you could import one and pay the massive transport and tariff costs, then spend another 50,000 making it EPA and CARB compliant.
>>
>>13972891
>Sometimes they are built like that to free up more space for bigger sleepers on the back.

See also: YBJ with the fuckhuge extra sleeper on the back.

But cabovers are super popular in europe because there are regulations on TOTAL length of the truck. Smaller tractor unit means more trailer to max out the 40 tons in. AND, as a bonus, you can thread it through tiny streets!

They're not used in the US because they don't need to be, and because Americans are stubborn and don't like change and innovation. Also, truckers are stubborn and don't like change and innovation, except for when it means they get a comfier seat and air conditioning.
American truckers are like trying to convince a brick wall. Especially when you're asking them to part with new truck money.
And the corporations are even worse with the penny-pinching and 'what we have works fine and we don't want to risk new shit breaking or costing more money'.

IIRC, they tried to make a new cabover in the US for the US market, but it didn't sell because of the above reasons.
>>
>>13973061
Ah, well I clearly must have misread something in the past.

I hear tanker is generally easy, at least as far as loading/unloading goes. Driving is a bit harder because liquid sloshes around (durr) but at least newer tankers - which Schneider should have - have baffles in them that limit the forward-to-back surging, making it slightly less dangerous.

I work 5 days a week OTR and a week I don't clear 2k is a really shitty week
>>
>>13978274
It's shit pay for me too, I'm just saying that 1k a week for starting is pretty damn decent for the 20somethings who aren't in college. A man can support a family on that wage. As a JY lineman I make anywhere from 120-200k a year depending on how much storm work and overtime I get. I've never gone under 100 a year.

Very common rule on the grounds of big distribution centers of many companies, not just Amazon, even for employees of the DC's. Tight security, limited valuables on the way in, heavy searches on the way out.

The theory is that any employee might try to steal thousands of dollars worth of product, and anyone crossing that security perimeter is an opportunity to help them smuggle it out.

Off the top of my head, I know Bridgestone makes a tire they market as a "Snow" tire. Its really just a hyper-aggressive tread pattern and doesn't really have a ton of technology behind it, but some people do say the work great. And since it isn't made with the same compounds as a true winter tire, it doesn't wear faster in the summer and actually does a really good job resisting stone drilling.

How does one get a flying J fuel rewards card?

Is there a super exclusive application or would I have to qualify through a major carrier?
>>
>>13986580
PFJ cards are the easiest to get. Just tell them you need one at the register and they'll activate it right there.

UltraOne (TA/petro) is a PITA because you need to fill out an application and they mail the stupid thing to you.
>>
>>13986625

What >>13986625 said, just ask for one, but tell them you're a professional driver, I think they have a different card for truckers and four wheelers. Might be Love's I'm thinking of though. I like my card, I used points to get one of those air line tire inflator hoses and a tire gauge. Think the one I got is busted already though. Probably should have gotten a regular "stick" type rather than an actual gauge one.

>>13987138
That's not bad. $18 at least would be better. I average $20-$25/hr depending on my routes and case count, but I have to bust my ass. It's slowing down because winter so the case count is lower and my checks are closer to $900-$950 where they are $1000-$1100 in the summer.

What about the guys who do dumpsters? Or the ones who drop off and pick up the big worksite dumpsters? Do they make any more money than residential?

I was also talking to that Republic driver a few weeks ago, and he said the job was real decent. 50hrs and he was bringing home $800+/wk after taxes. If that is standard for even starting drivers, I should look into it. But I really want to keep driving tractor trailers.
>>
>>13987116
>Also $15/hr isn't enough.
I saw that, and my first thought was ouch.

$15/hr is the minimum wage inside city limits where I'm at. But hauling garbage is a way better min-wage job than flipping burgers, so I still count it a win.
>>
>>13987159

>>13987093
Because I already have a boring job at Amazon that is repeating the same thing over and over and only pays slightly less. On the bright side, I don't have to smell garbage all day.

I mean, you are ahead of me at the moment and the same age, but that's saying nothing.
>>
>>13987166
A couple years ago when I was applying for jobs, Republic was actually hiring for commercial drivers. They also wanted a "Lead Residential" driver. Not sure what that was about.
>>
>>13987168
What do you do at Amazon? It's at the DC, right?

What about hours, pay, benefits?
>>
>>13987176
I work in the packing department. I am either packing, or managing other packers/pack lines making sure that all shipments get out by tight deadlines. Packing is boring and repetitive, managing them/the line is harder work and stress but less boring.
It's supposed to be the easiest department, physically, so I lucked out (didn't get to choose). Pickers walk 10-20 miles a night, including stairs. I have managed to avoid it like the pague so far.

The pay is $12 plus my .50 shift differential, $1 for weekend. My normal, non peak schedule is 4-5 days from 6:30 PM-5 AM. I always get 40 hours if I want them.
Benefits are actually pretty good. Bonuses ranging normally from 2-4% but 8-16% during peak. PTO, vacation, unpaid time, etc; I can just not show up to work if I have time saved. Health insurance seemed pretty good, but I am on my parent's since it's prettymuch free for me to be on it anyways.

They also give you 2 stocks if stay two years. And if you stay one year, the pay you somewhere around $1500 to quick and never come back. Or you can get certain associates degrees paid for after a year. They will work with college schedules, also.

It can be hard work, but not quite beverage industry tier.

I have about 45 college credits and have been just fooling around with college off and on for years while not actually getting job skills. I have been planning on trying trucking after this semester is over, if I don't chicken out.
>>
>>13987278
What sucks about it is there doesn't seem to be a lot of upward potential without getting a degree. What I suppose would be the equivalent of foreman in a factory only make $2 a hour more. Some managers and white collar people make money, but from what I have observed and read is that they basically have a churn and burn mindset with employees.

If I wasn't doing trucking or college, I would probably become a machine operator and eventually learn CNC programming or something. Machine operators here make about the same, but have much more upward potential if you're not dumb. Warehouse shit is pretty unskilled and dead end from what I can tell.
>>
>>13987278
If you have a decent gig at Amazon and college credits, fuck trucking. Either finish school or get a promotion at that DC. Or even better, if Amazon will help pay for school, get them to pay for a business degree and get a dank promotion.

Pepsi will pay for college too if I major in something that would be useful for a job with them. I have thought about trying to take some more classes and get a degree, but I'm not sure if I have the time or energy.
>>
>>13987309
I am the former coke fag, btw.

They will only pay for an associates degree, which I would prettymuch already have by the time I will have a year there in June.

I am much more of an understand everything theoretically person than I am, say, an industrial mechanic truckerfag type. But at the same time, I am a really hard worker at jobs but am really lazy and undisciplined at school, only obtaining a decent enough GPA from not being totally dumb.

I do live right next to a university that I haven't went to yet for scholarship reasons, though. Trucking just keeps calling me. Probably because of my years of pizza delivery experience. Yes, I know it is way different.

Meh.
>>
>>13987419
As for you, perhaps become a merchandiser for 30 hours a week while going to school? I know that pay cut will hurt if not cause you to go in debt.
>>
>>13987419
Kek the pizza delivery got me into trucking too. It was the only job that I didn't stare at the clock while doing, just waiting until it was time to go home.

And I'm lazy when it comes to school too. Always work hard at my jobs and get promotions and shit before other people. But in HS and stuff, I always did the bare minimum and just did well on tests without really studying. Same way I got into college, doing well on one or two tests.
>>
>>13987419
Not really, you are taking a product under a time limit to a (usually) different location only real difference is distance and you don't pick up stuff to bring back to the store
>>
>>13987469
It's the only job I have actually enjoyed, overall.

It sucks, because I love studying things, but can't sustain interest. Meh.

I mean, with otr or regional trucking, once I learn the basics, I can be entertained and learn all sorts of things while driving. Wife is even ok with coming on board and being rent free for a while. That's my unsound logic.

Fuck driving a bay truck though. I know that shit has to suck.
>>
>>13987514
Isn't operating such a large vehicle exponentially more stressful, though? Or just sometimes, or am I over-blowing it?

Then again, pizza delivery could be stressful, with the really tight time limits with multiple stops and shit customers. And I usually liked it.
>>
>>13986071
The rolling resistance is probably horrid.

>>13987106
I have. Hazmat long haul with a rollback.
>>
>>13987535
Not really. I'm patient while driving though so I don't get irritated with traffic and stupid drivers so much. I'll still get in a couple spots that are real tight and it will be stressful for a couple seconds, but whatever. I know the truck so well at this point. I don't think twice about having to blind-side back across 3 lanes of traffic.

Some of the bullshit 12hr+ routes they give me are way more stressful than any of the driving.
>>
>>13987558
Good to know. I am pretty calm with drivers unless I am driving my Miata haha.

I can imagine.Merchandising really wasn't that bad at the time except the fact the stores would make them bad with their terrible managers and no room for anything in the back. And them making me commute far for a single digit paying job.

Wait, it was pretty bad overall. Never mind.
>>
>>13987620
I had a merchandiser ride with me on the bay truck a couple months ago. It was his first time seeing what we do. He was amazed and shocked at how fast we have to do everything. That should say something about how fucked up it is.

And I have to deal with the retarded store managers too. Along with retarded and lazy salespeople.
>>
>>13987709
I wish you luck escaping that. I'd be submitting apps at other places like crazy.
>>
>>13987752
Yeah I need to get on that. But so many dudes just go to another food/beverage place like Gold Coast (Miller/Coors), Sysco, US Foods, etc. I think Gold Coast and Budweiser are a little easier, but less money. Sysco and US Foods are supposed to pay a tiny bit better but you still gotta haul a bunch of shit into restaurants.

I already know what I'm doing at Pepsi. Enough where I can run almost any area smooth and when they have random stuff going out, I can take that as an easy day and don't have to ask the boss a million questions. I'm not trying to re-learn everything at another company while basically doing the same time. Plus the bosses are cool mostly.

Another few months and I will throw a few applications in for the fuel companies. I have been looking at other places when they pop up on CareerBuilder and stuff.
>>
>>13987801
If you want company recommendations for your area, I would contact a guy that goes by Chinatown on the truckers report. Much of the site is shit and semi-literate whiners, but he knows what he is talking about.
>>
>>13987535

>>
>>13987450

different anon but I ultimately quit my merch job at Dr Pepper because they were unwilling to work with my class schedule. It's very hard to redesign a merch route to accomodate class schedules that change every semester. Plus I utterly despise retail management.

>>13987709

Merchandisers typically work alot slower than the drivers. Usually we will have 4-5 large stops a day compared to 10 or more for you drivers. Once I knew how long each store took me, I could know when to stretch things out if I needed to take a break or relax. Also helps not having a boss around either. And you have your own car as opposed to a full size bay truck.
>>
I am making a spreadsheet of various companies that will hire new drivers for my own purposes, along with various bits of info about them. Would anybody be interested in seeing it? I will add tanker and flatbed companies, along with various other companies that I am not interested in if they are.

Tennessee. I am still working on it, but will work on some way of posting it here when finished.

When I am finished with the version for me, I will post it and just post other companies I have ruled out for myself because I don't want to start with flatbed, not in my hiring area, etc. I am not going to even bother with CR Englands and such.

>10 stops

I wish. It's normally 14-15 because my route is about an hour away from the warehouse. Could be 12 if I have a few bigger stops, or 18-20 of there are smaller ones. I don't have my boss around either. And technically I could take as long as I want, but I don't get paid hourly and I'm not done until the truck is empty, so I normally just go fast. Most days, we are routed for 10-11hrs (which doesn't mean shit) so if I go quick and everything goes smooth, I can clock out at like 9hrs.

Some days when it is real heavy or I get lots of fucked up stops, I just look at the manifest in the morning and debate. It's going to be a 12hr day whether I work hard or not. I can go as fast as possible all day and get all the stops off by 4pm. Or I can take my time and bring a stop or two back around 4:30pm. I normally finish those days tho. When is 3:30pm and there are 2 quick stops left, I just say "fuck it" and get them done.

Friday was raining all day, I had a heavy route, and in the morning I knew I was probably going to bring one or two back. I had to skip a CVS in the morning because it was almost all 12pks and the rain would destroy them. Then I ended up knocking out like 6 stops in the afternoon real fast, went back to the CVS when the rain died down and got that done. Had one more big CVS, did that as fast as I could, and then it was almost 4pm and I had a Family Dollar (pain in the ass stop) for 10 cases (minimum order is supposed to be 15).

Brought the stuff into the Family Dollar. Of course there are tons of customers and only one person working in the store. Ask her if I can print up the barcodes so she can scan the 10 cases in later. She says no, so I stand around for 10min as her line gets longer. Go outside and smoke a cig, still no chance I'm getting checked in. Throw the stuff back on the truck, cancel the delivery, and go home.

I've been on long-ass road trips in my cruise-mobile. Feels good letting truckers into a lane and getting a wave or a thumbsup. But all that Karma is probably lost when it's like 10pm or later and I'm pushing high speeds, and going around truckers. I don't do any sudden lane changes or douchey shit... But does that get on truckers nerves?

tl;dr does simply coming up behind at 85-90, well before getting close, signalling and zooming by on the left piss truckfucks off?

I don't give a fuck if you pass me going fast. Just give me room to merge and switch lanes and don't cut me off and slam on your brakes.

If you want to tailgate me, whatever, I can't see back there anyway. Fly around and pass, go for it, I'm holding my speed, just try and pass on the left.

Y'all niggas could at least post in the new thread

Sweet. Sorry. And good. I try to be good to truckers and do all as described. But at night when I'm on addy... I'm fucking zooming by. Figured the whole holding your speed thing was the case. Peace my negrumps. And be safe.
