you fucking nigger i just made a thread >>13944186
>>13944237
Kek, was too busy working on pastebin and correcting the route to check if someone else posted. Nice timing.
>>13944231
i tried out pescadero thanksgiving night, good addition. tighter than 84 with lots of ups and downs, fun road. went through the entire thing both ways and only saw other cars near the coast where the town is.
Anyone got a suggestion for a fat man dinner?
Evergreen panda is pretty cheap with 5.99 combo plates that even a fat fuck like me can't finish. Yuri sushi is passable too, only exceptional thing is the name.
There is also a mexican run Chinese place right by the cinema with ok food but more expensive then the Evergreen.
At worst we can all just throw in for costco pizza and chicken bakes, have one person do a run there and all pig out at the cinema.
Random dude with a blue BRZ here from that one time. Living the dream in Texas right now.
Have fun guys and drive fast
>>13944231
Why every tuesday?
At night?
In the mountains?
I see you're not mentioning that r9k is banned anymore
Can I come?
>>13946166
because very little traffic = gofast
>>13946166
>weekday
no tourists
>at night
no cyclists
>mountains
fun
>>13946049
that saturday is probably going to have a big ricer meet in Milpitas near the 99 ranch, we could show up and pig out while watching them run speedbumps
>>13946430
>big ricer meet
Nope.jpg
>>13946166
Ramen meets have been the most fun so far precisely because they are on a Tuesday night. As has been previously mentioned:
>no slowpoke normies
>no cyclists
>best touge in the bay
Have fun trying to touge on Saturday afternoon.
>>13944231
image w/ extra bit
>tfw i cant make it to any of the Tuesday Ramen meets
Fags
>>13947235
just quit your job lol
>>13947180
touge on mt hamilton is easily possible on saturdays
but takes a while
>>13947235
Any weekdays that work?
in the day is much nicer than at night
much
>>13947913
Oh yeah being stuck behind a line of Prii and tourists slowing down to 20 at each corner is real fun
>>13947930
you are on a too mainstream road then
which is true, those routes are full of prii
better would be to not go on numbered routes like up Mt Umunhum
also the route by Sunol won't have traffic in the day
Nor Nor cal meet when
me and reddingfag are lonely up here
>>13947961
mels meet 2 work instead?
>>13947913
nah at night just you your car and the road
>>13947961
This roadtrip once the snow is gone?
Day 1 - catch air on the 36, drive the 299 that hasn't been straightened to boring yet.
Day 2 - touge on the lost coast roads.
>>13949993
Wrong route...... made that one before the 299 near Redding went to shit.
>>13950231
that's like 600 miles away
>>13950800
Every meets that BlueBrzfag comes up seen to be 300 mile away from home and its keep me asking why. Why so far away? Maybe he just want our boys pussies but that isn't it. He's older, been too many places that half of us don't know about. Maybe he is telling us that once in awhile we need to get away from our towns/cities and explore. Find more to enjoy our life in California before we all fuck it up, that or he after our boy pussies.
>>13950888
I have a route that's not too far away
how do you guys think of this?
>>13944222
Tooj flash guys
>>>/f/2964505

no need to wait...
>>13950231
>petrolia ftw
I like the wildcat inclusion, nice. best part of 36 is the west side tho, more curvy
>>13950800
fuk u nigga it's real n/o/r cal
fucking millpeetass bullshit....
>>13950940
>>13944577
That looks pretty awesome, hopefully I can make it.
How are we going to get past the no singles policy at the cinema?
anyone want to split on some crab legs?
also whos bring towels for the cinema showers?
>>13944222
i notice that palomares is flooded with cyclists pre 4pm, anything after is dead empty for fun
>>13950888
Nice trips
In the past five years I've done a loop around the west of the US three times now (2x on road, 1x off), driven from Key West to Salt Lake city, to Alaska and back and drive down to Death Valley or Salton Sea for the weekend a couple of times a year. I know a load of great roads that are a few hours drive away and wouldn't mind doing them with others. So yeah boy pussies mostly.
I've already talked about it a little at the meets but here is what I had planned for 2016:
Spring: Lone pine meet - Hammerknife has the details for that. Loads of deserted highways on the other side of the Sierra's. Socal can visit if they can be bothered to. 5 hour drive to get there.
Somewhere around June: That trip along the 36 and to the Lost coast. 3 hour drive to start point from the bay.
Somewhere around September:
Drive down the 1 friday night, dick around on Saturday while the tourists roam, night run along the windy bits then out on Sunday via Nacimiento-Fergusson Rd.
1 hour to get to start point.
>>13950946
Drop the 299 altogether and just do the 36? I'll be honest and say I haven't driven the west stretch. The 3 between Hayfork and Douglas City was really fun with no traffic but no idea if it's worth ditching the west of 36 tho.
>>13951201
You might be confusing the drive in with car dates. At one you see a film at the other you win herpes. It sucks to get them mixed up.
>>13951235
He acts disturbed by the homosexual dancing, but he sits there and watches intently for at least a full minute.
>>13949993
Down for a Snow meet even though RWD
>>13951235
yeah but you can't watch a movie because theres a nationwide no singles policy.
>>13950940
nah too long. how's this
>>13951346
Too straight.
>>13951372
i don't actually like driving and don't want to add miles to my car. can we just meet up at this parking garage in hayward instead? i can get my car towed there for cheap
>>13951293
because of the theater shooting there is a nationwide no singles policy. Also you can request to have a ballistic shield or a bulletproof vest while you watch just in case.
>>13951235
>pic related, favorite part of Avenue of the Giants
>drop CA-299
no way man, that road is a testament to cliffs, rock faces, and corners.
>CA-3 is good
3 is all right and not super crazy. Locals (read: growers) take the 3 north to the 299 then to US-101 to get to Eureka (read: tweakers) because it's the faster straighter drive even though its a longer route than taking the 3 to the 36 to the 101.
>west stretch of CA-36
Fun and dangerous; switchbacks, hairpin turns that truckers like to get stuck on (muh gps), and redwood tree roots that affect the road surface coupled with long straightaways. downsides: sunday drivers/ limited passing lanes, summer traffic to Ruth lake, winter road ice
>Wildcat AKA Mattole road
Seriously the best thing. Doing it at night is super shady; Watch out for cows.
raid the Scientologist archives vault, anyone?
>other suggestions
101 from trinidad to crescent city is extremely curvy but also filled with elk; Avenue of the Giants is awesome if a little tourist-y; Myers Flat is where it's at.
>inb4 hwy 96 run
FOOK OFF
>>13951455
That's not even a little bit true. I go to the movies alone like every fucking week.
>>13951235
West stretch of 36 is full of hairpins, disappearing center lines, and a distinct lack of guardrails. I'd recommend starting from the west end going east to keep off the cliff side of the road.
>>13951562
>I go to the movies alone
I'm sorry anon
>>13951683
>disappearing center lines
they weren't ever there, anon. except for boatfags trying to get to the lake there's not a lot of traffic. they resurfaced it recently and it looks so nice now
>mfw didn't even pick worst hairpin or the turn with a redwood tree instead of a shoulder
>>13946264
There is always no traffic on those roads.
>>13951780
I just grabbed the first good street view snap I could find. I drove it in June, and there was a lot of awesome pavement then. Traffic was light, and the people I did encounter were surprisingly good about pulling off to the side for me.
As for the eastern portion, I look forward to seeing/hearing about everyone catching accidental air. Personally I prefer the eastern section, although I've driven it a few more times than the west.
>>13951728
I know it seems lonely and what have you. Truth is, I have plenty of friends, and a gf, but they're all fucking annoying when I just want to watch a movie. Either they talk, or always have to go to the bathroom then want me to explain what they missed, eating candy and shit making noise, etc etc.
I prefer to just go alone, and enjoy cinematic bliss, then call up the boys and go get a beer.
>>13951874
Skyline is always full of weekend drivers and tourists if you go at the wrong times.
>>13951728
Are you the designated shooter? They are the exception.
Hayfork Huh? So there'll be 50'ish female attorneys banging Pressa canarios in the near future?
>>13951874
Incorrect, I urge you to try driving the 9 during the day (especially weekend).
i found a portal into another dimension and it's next to skyline, we should check it out next ramen touge
>>13952067
Could be on to something, my friend swears a llama appeared in front of him when he was night riding at Skeggs then disappeared shortly after, I figured it had something to do with him being a marijuana enthusiasts that rides mountain bikes at night but this evidence could help verify his story.
>>13951889
June is the best time, good weather and still a little early for boatists and the rush of tourism that happens in july and august.
I'm the complete opposite, traveled west 36 lots of times but only gone over the 36 to the 5 a few times. I personally like the 20 or 199 to the 5 depending on the trip
>>13952023
>dykes banging bulldogs
already happening, buddy, they don't wait for anyone.
>>13951728
I went to watch Mad Max by myself.
Went on a Tuesday around 1pm, there was no one else in the theatre with me.
It was fucking glorious
>>13952182
20 isn't bad east of Clear Lake, especially if you take 53 to 29 after that. Possible mini meet in the future?
>>13952244
+1
use the other seats as foot rests or to hold food
>>13952303
in that route everything above calistoga is traffic and everything above middletown (rip in peace) is boring highway, how about something like this? we've yet to do berryessa, if we start near berryessa the downhill between knoxville and lower lake is fun
>>13952344
i always lurk these threads but never go.
i don't want to land in a honey pot and get my shitbox dd taken
>>13952386
>traffic.png
what do you drive?
>>13952404
had a catfish z28 that got stolen
have an NA panda z32 that blew a rod bearing and fucked the crank clearances
now riding a 90 240sx coupe with electrical bugs and trying to make reliable enough to get a job
i usually did my hooning weekend nights or weekday nights on my way to work
2-4 am, saved up a small fortune to keep my head bobbing out above the water
mfw my well is drying up and using my last bit on the dd to make it reliable
>>13952440

why so interested in a ka24e se coupe that's beat to shit and abused but not molested?
>>13952509

Just another lie foreveralones use to justify even less social interaction. Never heard of it, nothing on Google about it and I've been to quite a few films around the bay area when I had to wait for clients/shoots.
>>13953350
I got my first and only ticket on that section of 20, hella expensive as it was for 20 over and driving during curfew (provisional license and ticket was at 1:42am). never going there again
>>13953393
saved this pic, you are a cool anon.

>>13955377
Sure, I have classes monday, wednesday, and friday but on the other days and almost every night i'm up for some twisties.
Why would you willingly associate with anybody on 4chan in real life?
I come here to get away from real life and laugh at the pathetic losers here but somehow you guys wanna meet these losers? Are you these losers? Jesus christ have mercy on your virgin souls.

>>13955448
The trolls and shitposters never show, so instead you get a group of mostly chill people.
>>13956105
what are you driving now?
>>13944222
So you guys on the 12th. I'll be the guy in the Honda with a scorpion jacket.
>wacom broke when I wanna draw check craigslist, found one in SF
>gonna go buy it, walk outside saw rear tire is flat WTF
>take it to the tires shop, tell me nothings wrong
>"sir come here" see bubble coming out of rim
>crack tiny hole on rim
So this is it. No more meets. I have to go back to walking and rider the IS300.

Seriously dude, it's not ideal, but it'll tide you over for a while.

Just curious, anyone know what happened to the S/o/cal meets? Left /o/ for a while then came back to find no S/o/cal meets.
>>13957494
Last I remember there was some massive shitflinging in the final post-meet thread a while back, some seriously middle-school-gril tier drama. I believe the core group may still be organizing things on FB/some other method but are no longer posting them on /o/.

>>13956910
Why not just get a secondhand wheel? Assuming it's OEM I'm sure one can be had pretty cheap on Craigslist. Someone could also weld it up pretty cheaply too.

>>13967921
I seem to remember something about this but I had just gone to Redding to pick up some heads (which they sold out from under me without calling and informing me, seriously, fuck Viking Auto) and got heatstroke at pick-n-pull so I didn't want to drive back and hang out with anyone, especially internet people. I thought maybe other people would show up tho and it would become a thing, guess not.
I fucking hate Redding.
I'll almost certainly make the meet on the 12th, and I may make the one on the 22nd. My company is sending me back to Cali starting on the 7th!
>>13968377
Nobody wants to drive up to the wilderness to drive around with one asspained reddingfag who may or may not show up
>>13965522
No worries, make your own meets, post them in the norcal threads and see if anyone shows up - I know there are a couple of others like me crazy enough to drive up for a day or weekender.

Noice dub n trip
As above - make your own meet and people should show.
>>13967030
Sorry sugarplum, we were there by "accident", watching the fire live via periscope in a campground just outside the evac area then got evac'd ourselves the morning after.
I did drive up after to help with the recovery effort at the Middletown vets and lions club all the while watching red cross be faggots and drive one truck around in circles for the media. Local plz.
>>13968111
Went and no one showed, too little notice tho. Maybe if we do that early summer roadtrip it'll be better.
>>13968451
Either thats great or I am so so sorry for you.

More like no car amirite?
Circuit of the gods confirmed
I really wanna go (east bay here), but I dunno if my shitbox could survive it. I got the thermostat replaced so I don't think it overheats anymore, but the underbody damage, rumbling and engine mount damage...fuuuck.
I'd wanna rent a car to do it, but if something bad happens, I own my shitbox.
>>13971618
replace your engine mounts then.
what do you drive?
>>13969106
I'm tempted to just drive down for the Ramen on the 22nd. But I gotta make sure my new dream machine is tip top toug-gay rea-day. Here's hoping the previous owner didn't hide anything major!
>>13971720
They always do, m8. Just gotta hope the PO's hidden turds aren't expensive.
>>13971668
I drive an 05' Neon, but the problem is, mechanics are bitching that the "underbody" damage (I hit a bump so the right side of the radiator is like, one inch back against the AC compressor) prevents them from changing the engine mounts.
I know that is BS though, because the top engine mount can definitely be replaced. Problem is, I can't find the other ones, and the engine mounts themselves aren't broken, just damaged.
I mean, honestly, other than the fucking rumbling and the grinding sound during a fast acceleration, I have no idea if it actually hurting the car. The thing has driven fine otherwise, it just rumbles at stops.
>>13971915
Google the engine mount locations, crawl under car and confirm locations, see if theres anything stopping access to them.
Im still iffy on if i want to drive my shitbox out, havent tested it enough on the freeway
>>13971605
i'd be up for that race. start/finish at junction?
>>13971605
>>13971915
You can probably get a ride from someone.
I'll be driving my shitbox as well but you can tag along with me or someone else.
>>13971977
What are you driving?
>>13973246
> racing on public roads

>>13971605
>hitting cyclists: the route

>>13974330
>>13974330
do you happen to drive a saab?
>>13974330
yeah the small road and rocks can be a turnoff but at night without cyclists and blasting through with no regard for your own life is when it's best
>>13974189
Yep, I expect the shit weather is gonna be pretty spoil quite a few upcoming meets.
If it is coming down too hard for meet/cinema would anyone be up for deep dish pizza and go karts in livermore?
>>13974508
will there be gfs?
>>13974508
yeah, but my fatass will probably hold a few people up
>>13974551
Is not about winning, it's about laughing at the person who fails the hardest.
>>13968588

As it turns out, the previous owner did a good job with maintenance, and I'm touge ready, b/o/ys. If the weather is good I'll see you on those mean ramen streets. If not, I'll see you fuckers some other time.
>>13974508

>>13975416
> mustang
> touge-ready
yeah but can it keep up with my shitbox?
What's the fastest car that has showed up thus far? Not including driver skill/balls
>>13976419
In a straight line, the tesla for sure.
Second place would go to either the 135 (I think that's what it was) or the FD.
>>13976531
Tesla would certainly get left for dead on a tight touge tho
>>13976676
Yeah, definitely.
>>13951228
This to be honest family
>>13976676
muh dead batteries...
>1 hour 26 minute one way drive not including the time to get to the start
no thanks.
>>13976968
We have driven beyond Bakersfield to go camping to do a run on a togue. I fucked your mom faggot.
>>13976364
Maybe yes, maybe naw, but it's gonna sound better.
>>13976982
I'd rather go to a section of road that I like and run it multiple times than go on a fucking road trip.
>>13977004
then don't come and don't post
>>13977014
I won't, but I'll continue to make fun of you
>>13977000
too bad you won't be able to hear it with my fartcan in front of you

>>13977273
t b h I'm not generally down for that long of a trip either, but that's why we have ramen meet.
>>13977280
Mainly just bc my car can't be trusted on long drives
>>13977004
yeah but with a large group in the middle of the day may be hard
What's the longest roadtrip yall have ever taken? Mine's from Cali to Michigan.
>>13977273
>55 minutes 45 miles
a breeze
>2 hours 28 minutes 120 miles
alight
>5 hours 14 minutes 269 miles
unbearable
>>13977316
That was just the outward stretch. I started with 21k on the odometer and finished with 35k.
>>13976968
>almost 1.5 hours
>long drive
>>13977351
Sweet baby jesus on a stick, what were you driving?
>>13977351
Also this in a rental corrola that kept pulling to the right.
>>13977364
This. The pic was taken at 12:01 am on the Dalton highway (from ice road truckers) - you can see one of those stone slinging Carlisle fuckers behind the jeep.
My tailbone still hurts from all the dirt road driving. Its been a few months now and I should really see a dr about it.
>>13977356
It is a long drive. The canyon I drive mostly takes 9 minutes from bottom to top. a lot more fun than some 3 hour round trip boring ass highway drive.
I could almost get to vegas in 3 hours. That's road trip tier distance.

we haven't had a good robotech game in a very long time.
>>13978820
Have you played Macross 30 yet? Word on /m/ is it's pretty good. Also Battlecry wasn't terrible on PS2.

maybe spend your gas money on fixing your car dude
>>13977319
55 min= daily commute
2 1/2 hrs= sunday drive
5 hrs= a pittance
It's like you don't even like to drive, anon.
>>13977316
12 hrs, 700 miles one way= 1 total day of driving 1400 miles every year from real actual NorCal to Los Angeles.
>just bought a freeway bomber for this specific route, noice
I took a trip to Colorado to see a show at red rocks, that's probably the furthest single trip but i wasn't the only driver.
>>13977384
>bruised or possibly dislocated coccyx
you should skip the doctor referral and go see an orthopedic specialist. Also eat some chicken soup and glucoseamine tablets
http://www.coccyx.org/
>>13977351
wut are those stars for
>>13978597
There are worse places, that said one of my antennas disappeared there. I had that fucker secured with red loctite too...
>>13979080
Thanks for the advice. I'll look into it.
>>13980338
My grow ops. Nah, not really - just saved locations in google maps for waypoints or photo spots.
drove up friday night
back down sunday night
>>13980668
>fern canyon and prairie creek
nice. Fern canyon is best in winter when they take the pedestrian bridges out and it's all rainy.
10/10 Jurassic Park experience.
>newton b drury
have you ever been on coastal dr? there's an old WWII listening post disguised as a farmhouse. It's pretty neat, even if it is basically a cinderblock bunker with a shake shingle roof.
>inb4 what a terrible pic
>>13982833
Just went last month for about five days.
did you buy any WEEEEED?!
...I did.
>meet is next week
>car got washed by the rain

Drove mines this morning. Shits frozen yo
>>13987625
mines was always garbage anyway
>>13987658
ever get that collision damage fixed?
>>13987625
how bad is it?
>>13987834
>>13987843
Eastbayfags like it because its convenient, but the roads in the coastal mountains north of Santa Cruz are better.
>>13987888
which roads?
>>13987899
9, 84, Pescadero, Skyline
>>13987916
>>13987899
Here just see this: http://www.alpinespeedstars.com/map/
My gripe with Mines is that it is too narrow and has too much debris.
>>13987916
84 is the only one that comes close to Mines imo.
>>13987920
true, that's the only issue with mines.
>>13987920
how is 236? looks fun but havn't been there yet
>>13987929
236 isn't one that I have been to yet. I always forget about it.
hey turbo mr2 i'm to sac again for reasons. hit me up i made a burner email
t.. other mr2
>>13987865
Was driving my Jeep so not bad at all. Would have probably shit my self going paranoid driving the brz with summer tires.
I really like mines because it's so quiet in the afternoons once the Lycra faeries fuck off. Road debris sucks, the small shit is annoying but the rocks on the road after a whole different thing. I drove over one thinking it was a pine cone and I'd clear it a couple of weeks back. I wasn't a pine cone and i didn't clear it . Cost $150 to hammer out the skid plate.
>>13988277
At least you had the skid plate and it didn't get your oil pan. Was there actual ice last time you went?
>>13987920
>too narrow
makes it more technical, technical = fun
>debris
losing traction is also fun
Do you mind if I bring a grill to the meet?
>>13988717
Yep, right past this well placed sign between the county line and the junction. In pretty thick patches too.
It was very visible and not on any sharp turns luckily.
>>13990621
Good luck?
>>13988717
Didn't take any pics of the ice because too busy driving.
