What's your thoughts on the 2016 Fiat 124?
>>
It's the official gay car's hardcore closet cousin.
>>
>>13942524
It's a good looking, open top Fiat with reliable Mazda underpinnings, aimed for weight reduction. Only downside is the lack of power, but the 1.4 turbo is easy to tune, and soon there'll be an Abarth version with a detuned Alfa 1.75 turbo. Given the results Novitec has gotten on the 4C with that engine, 270hp should be easy with a tune.
>>
>>13942557

An Abarth version is coming out.
>>
>>13942557
>>13942524
Forgot to mention: the badge on the front end will make it depreciate hard, making it cheap to pick up in a few years.

>>13942549
Nah, it's the gay car's Italian cousin. Italian cousins are 90% metrosexual straight guys, and 10% raging, cockgobbling, anusgaping faggots.
>>
>>13942563
Read my post again you doofus. I already mentioned the Abarth with it's Alfa derived 1.75L turbo (from the 4C and Giulietta QV). Most experts are guessing it'll get 200hp, and previous experience with the Alfa engine and Mazda gearbox means you can easily make 250-260 hp at the flywheel.
>>
i like it, its simple and not angry like every other car ever.
i wish they did more with the interior but mazda makes nice interior so...

whatever engine the abarth gets will tune to make shitloads of power, and feel like a proper miata from the factory with little effort
>>
Its a fiat meaning it will fall apart pretty quickly.
>>
>>13942648
only the engine and transmission, the rest is mazda and will be pretty damn reliable
>>
>>13942648
Go do your research before shitposting fuccboi
>>
>>13942648
>>13942658
Aside from the engine the car is being manufacured in Japan, with final assembly being done by Mazda. The reliability issues I've heard of with the newer Fiats like the 500 all seem to be unrelated to the engine directly.

>>
>>13942524
without knowing anything about it before coming into the thread, I knew it was styled to look like a mazda. Those are my thoughts.
>>
>>13942524
It's the classic 60s/70s roadster I want with modern safety so I won't be crushed to death by a soccer mom's crossover on my commute.

So basically it's the first car I'm considering buying new.
>>
>>13942677
You're retarded. It's a Mazda styled to look like it's Italian. Look at pictures of the original 124 Spider. The styling is clearly an updated version of that.

Transmission is Mazda too iirc. Fiat has no FR transmissions of their own, as far as I know
>>
>>13942707

Meaning it will get shit on by awd and fwd cars.
>>
>>13942727
>Implying

AWD rules for a reason, but FWD is only the standard in rallying since most manufacturers don't make lightweight RWD anymore
>>
>>13942730

Except for the fact FWD was shitting on RWD even back in the hey days of rally.

>>
>>13942679
Same here, one of the very few fun, affordable, new cars I'd like to buy. Might wait a few years until depreciation has hit them enough though, not looking forward to lose 15K within a two-three years. I'd rather spend that money on mods.
>>
>>13942752
>80s
>Fwd

80s was all about mid engine supercars based on FWD chassis
>>
Looks like shit. Miata is king
>>
>>13942801
nice try weeb boi
>>
>>13942752
>Except for the fact FWD was shitting on RWD even back in the hey days of rally.
because there weren't any RWD rally cars in th 90's
>>
>>13942724
oh shit that's awesome! in that case your only problems might be the engine, but if
>>13942670
is right even the engine might be pretty dependable

could...could this be fast, fun, reliable, AND good looking in a classic sense? oh damn
>>
New Miata is so fucking gorgeous, but this Fiat is so ugly. It's hard to believe they're related.
>>
>>13942761
>Might wait a few years until depreciation has hit them enough
Yeah true. I might just save my money and buy a NB Miata to drive for a few years.

> fiat engines

Lol? You're pretty stupid.
>>
>>13943192
I feel the exact opposite. I love the Fiat's styling and think the new Miata looks too try hard and angry.

I love that both designs are polarizing and both designs exist. I'm tired of car designs that try to please everyone. I like that we'll have a very similar car in two different forms so I can actually buy what I want, and people that prefer the other form can buy what they want.
>>
>>13943473
considering it's a fiat I'm assuming all of it is problematic, and i have more than half a century of evidence
>>
>>13943192
>>13943643
I'm happy both exist. A lighweight, cheap, RWD roadster, being made by two companies, cannot be a bad thing. Just pick the flavor you want.

>>13943461
I'd pick an NA. They're at the bottom of their depreciation curve, and they look better imo. A bonestock, special edition, rustfree NA might actually start to appreciate soon.
>>
>>13943643
With fiats or with looking at things and say in that they are shit?

I am definitely going to buy one of these.

>>13943823
so it's at the absolute bottom of the graph and you're getting upset that I'm assuming the engines have problems too?

here's let's try truedelta, interestingly it seems to drop off in problems the newer it gets, which means they're improving, but generally most problems start to show up around two years of age. also the newer models have that little asterisk which means the sample size is small, less than 10 examples.

also note that the L's 2014 model is more indicative of the norm and has a proper sample size
>>
Every abarth in my old abarth group had a problem at one point under 50k miles. Fucked waste gates, (like mine) turbo problems, electrical issues, cosmetic issues.. My waste fate was the last straw.

I hope FCA dies. This car isn't going to sell because it's a fiat. It's like Hondas, doesn't matter if it's cool it is what it is.

Source on what.
>>

Well you're obviously a newfag here, so I'll give you the rundown.

I was a tripsfsg for my abarth defending the fuck out of those things on here every time they got posted. Pic related my abarth you may or may not have seen posted on here allot 6+ months ago. I have no "source" but anyone that remembers my faggot ass can vouch for me. And I'm saying, that abarths and fiats in general have allot of issues, and until it happened to me I was a heavy supporter. My ex wife being Italian actually works at a fiat studio, still I think.
>>
>>13942696
So meybe he should buy a bimmer? Nothing will change, at least you don't pay for the badge.

>>
>>13943986
Where do you live?
Fiats are sold like hot cakes everywhere in Europe.
Especially Puntos and 500s.

And Fiat engines are pretty reliable, fyi.
>>
>>13944539

I can't tell if you're serious, but mudflaps help keep shit off your car and behind. Nice attempt though, child.

>>
>>13944929
Dude, you're american.
How the fuck can you accurately tell is successful or not? They literally only sell 500s overseas.
And their presence isn't really what you could call relevant in North America.

>>13944977

I was stationed in Italy for 2 years an married one. I know fiat is the poor mans shit over there also. An sadly fiat ruined its image here with these cute little girl cars, as every calls them. Plus their old reputation, which I don't think will ever fade.
>>
>>13945190
their old rep will die when all these faggot old people die.

I already own multiple Fiats that's why I was asking
>>
>>13945190
Man, Fiats aren't even the cheapest cars you can buy in their respective segments.
And where I live, you see tons of Fiats, especially Puntos. Be it new or old ones.
They can't be that unreliable when you see so many of them still on the streets.
Not too far ago, I'd still see some Unos in the streets.
>>
>>13942524
Looks okay, but the roads I drive on are usually of the horizontal variety.

I'd be interested if they made one that works with regular gravity.

What gave you that brilliant idea?
That's never going to happen.
It's going to be at least $28-30k starting
>>
>>13943192
I'm with you. I find this to be ugly. I have yet to see an angle of the car that I like, contrary to the ND, which looks great from almost every angle.
>>
>>13949026
I like them both.
I'm just happy that this is a new vector for the popularization of the platform.
