My crappy ford freestyle died on me today after 6 years, I have 2 days to find a new car.
What would /o/ suggest I do with $2,000 saved up and damn good credit?
What should I buy? No particular budget in mind and I live in Socal, commute up to 40-50 miles per day.
they charge for mileage and will rape you on it

Buy a Fiesta, be done with it. ST for fun, base model for basic commuter.

I have given up on Fords but is the Ford Fiesta actually reliable?
Volvo 240 is the answer for any question.
Track car? Yep.
Commuter/DD? Yep.
Winter car? Yep.
Reliable? Yep.
Sexy? Maybe.

cool

This desu. I was in a similar situation actually, the most value-per-dollar car I could get was a base model fiesta. It feels very agile with the manual transmission, and I yanked the abs and tcs fuses for bonus fun.

you making me want to buy a ford fiesta now, this isn't some kind of wicked meme that /o/ drops like install gentoo is it?

Not that I'm aware of. Granted mine has ~68,000 miles so I can't speak to its lifespan but it's been pretty based. The manual ones have decent legroom and seating position (6'3" reporting in), and the gas mileage is breddy good. Takes corners well enough, which is good, because the zero to sixty time is measured in half-lives of hydrogen.
Never trust a ford!
