It's simple really.
Having the front tires brake, steer, and throttle overloads them. Combined with having no weight on the rear end, combined with weight transferring away from the drive wheels on acceleration.
FR is just a superior configuration for track cars. There's no debate.

FR is just mechanically simpler and can be drifted.
RR as in pic related is better for cooling and crew ergonomics, however. And it keeps the engine BEHIND the frontal armour, rather than embedded as part of it. And it makes swapping out the engine/gearbox powerpack quicker.
