But basically my parents bought me a new Elantra and I love it. And I want to keep it going strong as long as possible (20 years??)
But...I know nothing about cars. What type of things need to be done so the quality of the car is maintained as long as possible? Like changing oil at what frequency etc etc.

check your blinker fluid and make sure you don't wear out your muffler bearings--you're looking at a $5k fix for those bearings
I don't know where you live but if you live in somewhere cold, be sure to keep the engine running while you do any oil changes

Hey OP i got one of these, 20k miles on it so far. As long as you do the service maintenance, the car will do just fine. It is not a particular exciting to drive, but it will get you from A to B for many years, costing you little in the process.
