It is a $45k starting car. That is Cadillac or Corvette money on a rwd V8 sedan. Where I am at I've seen one SS Sedan. I immediately knew what it was because nobody who spends 45k+ is going to keep the most boring looking money pit GM makes stock. The one I saw had aftermarket exhaust and probably a few more things because even at idle the damned thing sounded like a rhinoceros with sleep apnea. Nobody who owns the SS is going to be like I bought a car that doesn't look fast but is fast costs almost as much as a CTS or C7 and has an exhaust so quiet everyone will think I drive a rental car.

Yeah I work as an emergency vehicle upfitter for a dealership and my Dad is the fleet manager. They come in with no US crash rating as they are not sold to the regular public. They're also all built and assembled in Australia. GM has very tight control over the sales of them too so they'd have a shitfit if a civie got sold one directly. 4th gen legacy turbos are pretty fuckin fast with a manual. A sleeper doesn't always have to be as extreme as a plain jane 1990 corolla with a 500hp LS. A sleeper is just something that's faster than it looks, and most people think of legacies as 165hp shitboxes, not 250hp shitboxes. It's literally a wrx in sheep's clothing, and with more horsepower.

I wonder how hard it would be to put an SS front end on a Holden Ute. I need a ute (because tax reasons), but I don't really like the Holden front end. The SS one would be an improvement for me, it looks less busy compared to the Holden (plus you get to put El Camino badging on the back, and are legally required to grow a mullet). Even nicer would be a Cadillac CTS front end (or an ATS if it fits), but that would probably be hideously expensive.

Was talking to a cop last night, and my local department has 8 that the cops fight over.
They love them compared to the chargers but they refuse to buy more because any time they need repairs they get put in shop for along time because all parts have to be shipped from Australia.
He also said even with the upgrades dodge said to the chargers front suspension it is still a nightmare with most chargers needing their front suspension rebuilt. His 2014 charger had to get its lower control arms replaced twice in 20k miles.
320hp super charged v6. some ricer shop in my city has one, is incredibly fast and unsuspecting.

the Charger PPV is an 18 month vehicle. Too many issues with it after hard usage. Definitely not good for a police vehicle. The Caprice is fucking roomy inside, dat 6.0L V8, and some nice standard features (7" multimedia screen, reverse, camera, etc.) make it a good buy for PDs since it costs around $30k. Sadly PDs aren't buying them up which is real fucking stupid.
