what does /o/ thinks of the DSMs ?
I am looking for a durable 3-400hp capable fun car.
What should I know about these ?
I already heard about the 7 bolts engines have had several problems with crankwalk.
Anything else ?

You can make a lot of power for very cheap, but it'll blow the fuck up.
You can also make a lot of power for not quite as cheap, but it won't blow the fuck up.

i own a 3000gt vr-4, while technically not a DSM as it wasnt assembled in the states, it was the same era so i just call it a dsm. im on motor #2. if you do buy one, dont drive it in boost until you get it fucking tuned, and done all maintenance, timing belt, pumps, pulley's tensioners. EVERYTHING. if you can get that done and get a wide band air/fuel gauge, a proper boost gauge, only run 91 or other high octane, and do your regular maintenance, oil changes, tranny fluids, diff fluid etc, then you wont have a problem. they are very picky cars when it comes to maintenance, but the satisfaction of owning one is immense and definitely outweighs the disadvantages.

My anecdotes ain't worth shit, but I've learned these engines aren't particularly sensitive to low oil.

Oh yea, that old design flaw where the engine will catastrophically fail when children buy manual boost controllers from eBay to go with their huge turbos and turn them to 11.
The 6G72 is race proven, doesn't get more robust than that.

It only affects a small run and you can just get matched bearings and that fixes it.
