i use disabled veterans plates because virginia lets me register a single car for free with them, though i still pay taxes on it. without mentioning them or pointing at them or anything cheesy like they once calmed down a homeless guy who was chimping out when he noticed them. i recently got stopped for a headlight that was out (replacement in the mail), and the cop said he figured i was not going to give him any problems if i was a vet
