I don't hate the Corolla but my 93 auto Civic is more fun to drive than my 94 auto Corolla. Corolla has a very numb feeling. It's my mom's DD anyway and I trust it to rarely break so I can focus on my own car.
Of course, my manual Civic hatch is more fun than both.

The Corolla and Civic are still similar sizes though. next gen Corolla is going to grow to match the new 2016 Civic.

Far Civic sedan and ae86 here. Civic needs to contort its center of gravity in turns to go at any speed which means braking into a turn. Corolla locks in with acceleration. Both can be fun but rwd feels better and more maneuverable to me. Would be interested to drive a smaller, lighter civic to compare though. Mine weighs 2600 fucking pounds.
