They didn't make enough crazy shit like the Hellcat back in the 90s and early 2000s. They should've taken every car in their lineup and offered an option with the Snek V10 in it. Even if nobody bought them, at least it would draw interest to the brand.

FCA should sell Jeep to Ford. So we can have Jeeps we can actually drive after the warranty runs out. Thinking about it now, Jeep had to totally keep Chrysler afloat with Wrangler and Cherokee sales for years and years.

ZERO quality control
that's their #1 issue

i talked to a guy who worked on a dodge assembly line and he told me that there was ZERO QC at every step.

That was all shit enacted when Mercedes bought Chrysler in a hostile takeover in 1998.
Before that, Chrysler products were known to be extremely reliable, Mitsubish-powered models notwithstanding
>>
>>13925680
This. Mercedes was Chrysler's downfall. When Mercedes took over Chrysler, Chrysler went from being a reliable, well built, profitable car company to the exact opposite. Mercedes milked chrysler of any and all money, then dumped them in 2007 when Chrysler was no longer profitable, like a vampire dropping his victim once they're drained of blood.
>>
>>13923271
>FCA should sell Jeep to Ford.
That's a pretty good idea. Sure that they will make it more reliable!

Beautifully said.

Europeans made them as unreliable as the cars they drive.

Fiat makes even more unreliable cars than Chrysler. It's just a fact. Stop being a fanboy.
>>
>>13926444
So you'd be totally happy with it if say Toyota bought out Volkwagen, brought every single VAG (from VW, Skoda, and Seat to Audi, Porsche, Bentley, and Bugatti) product to Mini-tier reliability, and Yugo-tier quality, then dumped them when they lost all profitability?

No because it's a dick move, and it wasn't Mercedes first time being a dick to everyone. The 25 year law immediately springs to mind, along with copyrighting systems and things they didn't make. Mercedes should be run into the ground for the shit they've pulled

Why should I even care about your hypothetical bullshit ? If chryslershits knew anything about shit they wouldn't have accepted the deal. It wasn't a hostile acquisition after all.
>>
>>13926522
>It wasn't a hostile acquisition after all.
It was a hostile takeover. Originally, it was supposed to be a partnership like Chrysler had with Mitsubishi.

But the deal WOULDN'T have happened at all had Lee Iaccoca chosen the right person to succeed him. Bob Lutz was supposed to get the CEO position at Chrysler, but at the time Iaccoca stepped down, he and Lutz had had a major disagreement, complete with hurt feelings, over the developments of the Viper and the LH cars. So instead Iaccoca chose a spineless yes-man named Eaton to become CEO instead, and Lutz then moved to Ford (he brought the first Explorer to market), and then to GM.

A fusion of two companies producing similar products never works (especially when both brands continue to exist). One is always stronger or more represented and will try to fuck the other over.
>>
>>13923256
It's all right as rain now (or was, Fiat's influence remains to be seen), but the 70s was rough and Mercedes reliability doesn't translate well to people who buy a car because they want it to take them places
If they had done the AWD Daytona or the V10 daytona or any of the cool shit they did research on in the 80's Chrysler would've tore ass and Dodge would've had good performance cars in the 90s, but they couldn't really afford to do shit other than sell an assload of 4 cyl turbo cars forever, and then when they finally came into money merc bought them and then yeah
>>
>>13926567
So what about the Renault-Nissan alliance?
>>
>>13927979
Nissan went to shit after Renault took over. The ONLY car not totally fucked over by Renault has been the Nissan Skyline. And even that's debatable, but that's my opinion. Nissan has gone to shit since the "alliance" coughtakeovercough started in 2002.
>>
>>13923256
Mercedes, Cerberus, and now Fiat.
Almost 2 decades of shit management did them in.
And they've been making the same fucked up design for their lugnuts for like 10 years. Metal cap over a normal lug nut that gets rust and corrosion buildup underneath, swells, then extraordinary procedures are required. Every other manufacturer has the same lug design, but they don't have the same problem.

Fiat actually seems to be doing a good job. Fiat seems content to give Chrysler and Dodge the money for R&D to do what they're known for, innovating. The first new Chrysler products that aren't a reskinned or rebadged Fiat product should be out for either 2016 or 2017, and among those are the new promised engines for the Dodge Dart.

Are Chrysler and Dodge really innovating though?

Sure, they've improved a lot from where they were only 5 years ago, but I wouldn't exactly call them innovators.

What Fiat has done has given them purpose. Dodge has changed from being a brand that sold half-assed commuter vehicles into being a brand that sells attractive, sporty vehicles, with their flagships being the Charger and the Challenger. Chrysler changed from being a shoestring brand riding in the shadow of its former self into being a rather nice 'budget' luxury brand, even though they only have 3 cars in their lineup right now.

It's not a Chrysler though. It was even built in Germany on the same assembly line as the SLK.

The 70's happened and Hemi's were outclassed by new 7 liter engines from GM while boomers blamed the OPEC embargo, clean air standards, and unleaded fuel for never winning.

Both Joe Dirt cars were Six Packs and I expect the character in question is a Chrysler consumer.

But that does exist. It's just not street legal. You can order a new Challenger with a Viper V10.
Look up the Challenger Drag Pack. Chrysler came up with it to compete with the Chevrolet Camaro COPO and the Ford Mustang CobraJet

The drag pak doesn't come with a V10. It's got either an N/A 426 Hemi or supercharged 354 Hemi.

Oh I guess they made 50 Drag Pak Challengers with V10s

Either way, it's not a street car.
