Need help ASAP /o/.
Like a colossal retard i pulled the belts off my car without taking pics of it and without setting timing marks.
I figured out where to put the belts back on but dont know if the timing is off. 50/50 chance im gonna grenade the engine once i start it up again
Car is a 1982 Toyota Corolla with the 3TC
Ive tried looking up forums and online PDFs but havent found anything at all.

Don't know if this is true for passenger cars or not, but when I rebuild a diesel engine there is a timing pin you insert into a hole that lines up with the crank to set the timing.
U r fugdd

It's a single cam with a chain.
Did you take off the chain?
Godamn im a fucking retard.
My Corolla doesnt have a timing belt, it has a timing chain and i didnt even touch it
Fuck im a huge faggot.
Anyways, will anything be affected?

So you took off your serpentine belt? Dry off the parts that the belt was in contact with and put the belt back on, no wrong way to put it on
>>13909991
No you're fine. Just put belts back on correctly and you're golden

Checked

No i didnt. I just remembered it doesnt use a timing belt.
Ive swapped out timing belts on Tacomas and got them confused in my expresso-shot fueled confusion
3tc is sexy as fug. Cute little thing.

Serpentine belt, fan belt... fuck man, I don't know the english words for everything
>>13909996
It has 3 smaller belts

Thank fuck.
Every Toyota ive worked on has been 1990+ and used a belt, first Toyota with a chain.
Freaked out for a second.
Goes to show you can still make rookie mistakes even after youve worked on cars for years

I kinda want one
OP, are engine parts hard to find?
>>13910052
No idea honestly.
Just picked this Corolla up on Tuesday, 1st day working on the engine

They seem popular just browsing Google.
Also the Japanese 3TE engine was EFI.
>>13910092
EFI conversion might happen in the future.
Id like to make this engine as fuel efficient as possible without sacrificing power
One more quedtion /o/.
I dont have to set the crank mark at 0 even if i didnt remove the chain?
I have the belts back on but still nervous
>>13910405
No you're good
>>13910450
Its still good even if the timing mark isnt lined up right?
Setting the timing mark to 0 doesnt matter unless i removed the chain, then it would matter.
The belts dont have anything to do with timing at all, just running the Air pump, the A/C, the alternator, and fan.
This post is 1/2 me asking questions and 1/2 me going over everything in my head
