I'm going to argue that.
MPV does what a wagon does even better.
Same chassis size, usually same powertrain, taller headroom, upright seating position, better visibility, better safety, more vertical and horizontal space.
Downside is body roll and slightly reduced mileage due to weight and aerodynamics. But I still think compact minivans are super handy, especially if they have a 3rd row seat (but they usually don't). I wish we got the Mitsubishi Expo LRV with the 4g63 like they did in Japan, not tge shit-tier 2.4l 90hp 4g64.

If they're relatively clean (not rusted out) and were well maintained they last forever.
If the PO didn't follow the maintenance recommendations (Oil every 4k or less, trans service and Tbelts every 60k) on time, don't even bother.
Quickest way to tell is pull the oil cap and dipstick, peek inside with a flashlight. If the top of the valve cover is full of sludge and the dipstick has a brown / black varnish on it walk away.
There should also be a placard on the top of the T-belt cover that gives a date and mileage it was last changed at.
