Not to mention that you can shorten the physical width of your plates in Germany as long as your character combination fits on them, and it's absolutely impossible to find any plate frames that aren't standard length and aren't meant to be hidden in the first place. This example photo shows both a hidden frame and the potential differences in plate width. You can still see a dirty outline of the original plate or plate mount on the front bumper.
