Are Pontiac cars any good? I'm thinking of possibly picking up one of the last gen GTOs.

Pontiacs no, The GTO is though because it is a Holden not a Pontiac.
They are basically glorified skid rigs, when they were designed by someone who thought looking out the side window instead of the windscreen is the proper way to go down a road.

In 2003 a HSV GTO producing 285kw was released with the same engine and a new body kit.
in 2005 a new HSV GTO was released with a 6 litre ls2 producing 297 kilowatts.

iirc the 260kW engine was HSV's base V8 at the time. 2002 The Holden spec V8 was making 220kW with the VT, 225kW with the VX and 235kW with the VY. The CV8 was never released with 260kW.

HSV never used the "Monaro" name. The equivalent HSV badged cars were simply called "HSV Coupe", be it a GTS, GTO or Coupe4.
