I'm restoring my headlights. What's a good UV resistant clear coat that I can put on them when I'm done?

I can't find a good answer to this anywhere and the top rated product on amazon for this is fucking shit and not even a true clear coat
>>
>>13893079
don't bother

just restore them once every couple years

B-but the convenience...
>>
>putting paint on translucent surfaces
>>
>>13893155
>Putting clear paint over a clear surface
Oh no!!!!
You realize they have clear coat from the factory?
>>
>>13893079
who is this pseudo mia wallace?
>>
>>13893169
No they don't. Only dumbasses clearcoat their old faded lights. If you weren't retarded, you'd know how to really "restore" them without spraying clear rattlecan paint over the BARE PLASTIC fucking headlights.
>>
>>13893302
Nigga you dumb
>>
>>13893311
Says the guy who's about to rattlecan his headlights...
>>
>>13893318
I'm not OP
But hey do whatever you want. I'll enjoy my UV protected clean clear headlights
>>
>>13893326
>UV protected clean clear headlights
>actually believing this
Yeah, see, that's something a clueless dumbfuck would say.
>>
>>13893341
Prove me wrong then
>>
>>13893352
No paint adheres properly to bare plastic. Even if your little spray paint can says so. It'll always be weak and will start chipping and looking like shit within a year guaranteed. Also have fun with your shitty ass clear coat yellowing over the next year or two.

If you weren't retarded, you'd know that all you had to do was sand and polish them. That's it. Better results and no shitty rattlecan coating and all the problems that it brings.

Now quit being so fucking retarded.
>>
>>13893468
If he does that it's going to become shitty again in short order. The best course of action is new headlights.
>>
>>13893468
Your opinion is not proof.
Many many many professionals will re-clear headlights. The same way the factory does.
>>
>>13893495
Only not at all as good as the factory does.
>>
>>13893485
Or to not but a car with shitty plastic headlights
>>
>>13893507
so to conclude - the factory does?
thanks for playing.

How do you figure? It takes about 6 months for them to start looking faded, and all you have to do is polish them again and voila, like new.

>>13893495
>No paint adheres properly to bare plastic.
>will start chipping and looking like shit
>clear coat yellowing
Opinion? These are facts.

Do whatever you want. It's your shit and i don't really care. I just wish there weren't so many misinformed retards like yourself here, mostly because you spread your dumb shit to others. I guess that's /o/ though. Go ahead and take a trip to autozone and pick out the best can of clear spray paint they have man! Good luck.
>>
>>13893554
>non yellowing UV resistant clear doesn't exist
You're fucking insanely retarded.
I'm going on 5 YEARS of re-cleared headlights and there is no yellow, no fade, nothing but a few chips from rocks.
Eat a bag of dicks faggot
>>
>>13893543
What?
>>13893554
>It takes about 6 months for them to start looking faded, and all you have to do is polish them again and voila, like new.
Eventually that's going to wear enough of the material down and change the beam pattern while being way harder and possibly more expensive to maintain than new OEM lights.
>>
>>13893593
>maximum autism
The beam pattern is not effected by 1/10th of a millimeter missing
The beam pattern is determined by the housing. Not the clear lense.
I've also seen them fade in less then 2 weeks
>>
>>13893593
>muh headlamp maintenance
what the fuck are you on about cunt? you know you can change the fluids just as easily with clearcoat right?
>>
>>13893079
Rust-Oleum 280702
>>
Why the fuck would you clear coat your headlights?
Most clear coats will fade. Plastic only fades very seldom.
As the clear coat doesn't offer any UV protection at all your headlights will still fade if it's the plastic that is fading. If it's the original coating that is fading just polish it away.

Just polish them and you're fine.
>>
>>13893602
>The beam pattern is not effected by 1/10th of a millimeter missing
Maybe not that, but if you're doing it twice a year then eventually it will happen and you'll just end up having to replace them.
>The beam pattern is determined by the housing. Not the clear lense.
It's clear you know very little about optics or light in general.
>>13893610
What are YOU on about?
>>
>>13893650
Nothing you say makes sense. You keep contradicting yourself
Go away
>>
>>13893079
Meguiars has a type of clear coat sealant that hardens completely, it's in their head light restoration kit
>>
>>13893666
No you go, Satan king of all lies.
>>
>>13893666
>Nothing you say makes sense.
Everything I say makes plenty of sense. Not once have I contradicted myself.

Please fuck off.
>>
>>13893833
>factory doesn't have clear coat
>factory does have clear coat
>buffing the lense will ruin beam pattern
>no wait it won't ruin beam pattern
>a clear lense is what makes the beam pattern
>no wait it doesn't except it does
>headlight maintenance
Dude you need help. You're retarded.
>>
>>13893864
>factory doesn't have clear coat
Never said that.
>no wait it won't ruin beam pattern
Never said that.
>a clear lense is what makes the beam pattern
Not what I said and you're an idiot who obviously doesn't understand optics and light.
>headlight maintenance
Having to buff and polish them every 6 months is maintenance.

Don't kill yourself, just seek help for your mental retardation.
>>
>>13894049

You need polyurethane based clearcoat otherwise it will soon crack.

Ask me how I know.
>>
$20 Sylvania kit did a really good job restoring mine. Can be had for cheap on amazon and come with a clearcoat layer for the last process
