Is shoveling necessary when you own an AWD?
>>
>>13891541
yes, even AWD cars get stuck if the snow is bad enough.
>>
If you want to track snow in your house, build up a huge layer of hardback that takes forever to melt and turns a gravel drive into muck when it does, no.

I have a plow service do mine, fuck shoveling

Not with half a foot of light snow and fucking sunshine like pictured, no

When you have a snowfall like this five days a week that also doesn't melt then yes, you pretty much have to shovel/blow if you want to drive your car on your driveway or simply be able to walk around without wearing snowshoes unless you own a BV202 or something

Yes it is. Local GO station built a overflow parking lot in the way back corner surrounded by trees and commercial stone business. It's out of sight. I do car maintenance in there, nobody bothers me.
Sub Outback with xice3 tires.Shits fun yo.

Interior Alaska, cold dark and unforgiving but beautiful in the winter. Warm, sunny and lush in the summer. 4 hours of daylight in the dead of winter 24hrs daylight in the peak of summer. Snows from October to March averages about 6ft a year, average high is 73 in the peak of summer and about -18 in the dead of winter. Permanent Fund Dividend is about $1000 a year per resident. Usually spend mine on heating fuel.

Where I live is pretty solitary. I see more wildlife than I do humans at home.

If I could use one word. Vast

This is a picture I just took of my side yard. Previous pic is from the Cabin I bought when I first moved here.

i'll stick with my view of my dock and river.. and 4 to 5 snow events a year.. non of which are significant to stop my saab (although close) or jeep.
>>
>>13892038
Yeah a better view would be awesome but I can see the white tank range on clear days. Houses further up are too expensive right now.

Not trying to be a dick but that's just a large hill. Beautiful though. You are in Scandinavia iiric?

I have an ancient two stage with a six speed transmission.
The engine a tiny 4hp L-head. It usually starts on the first pull.
It gets the job done though, and that's enough for me.
>>
>>13892065

Hehe, good point... when you put stuff like this it all sounds terrible. The sea is just a puddle, the forrest a bunch of sticks

No, its more fun. And when you make road tracks with your tires, and it all freezes over, and only you in your awd with winter tires can get through and watch everyone else get stuck. Hella fun
>>
>>13891831
I see your point. Hooning in something else could be funner. My tires grip well and the engine doesn't place much power to the wheels to really hoon unless tons of snow.
>>
>>13892068

The Kärcher did its job aswell, but I could never run it full speed after a normal snowfall, constant wheel slip due to simple belt-driven design, and the nozzle took way too long to turn, so it took like at the very least double the time that the new Ariens use

When you use this shit for an hour atleast five days a week you tend to get really fucking tired of having a shit blower

Some winter weekend I'm just going to get in my car and go north until I think it's snowy enough, and spend the rest of the weekend having having fun. I have been up north in the winter before though, so I'm not totally unfamiliar with loads of snow, but I've never driven in it.

how's being over 300 miles from the mainland and getting buttfucked by logistics because of it
>>
>>13892090
I see your point there. Last winter it was about once every two weeks to twice a week at most.
>>
>>13892078
not that the M5 cant be fun, but it just feels a bit too serious for the occasion. the swift is more of a playful thing. a really fun one
>>
>>13892220
I'm in the mainland. Fairbanks is in the center. If you mean the contiguous u.s. I am 2000 miles away.

It's expensive but we make enough so I don't really notice. Unless I'm buying parts online, the shipping is often as much as the components.

> they did in top gear with putting metal oven plates under the rear wheels of an FWD car and pulling the handbrake

I used to do this with fast food trays when I was younger. Works well, just probably dont last as long as metal trays
>>
>>13892266
You're that dude pretending to be a girl right?

You ever drive to Canada(White horse or something) or is it to far/not worth it?
>>
>>13892353
huh, i tried those with trays from mcdonalds but they desintegrated after a few meters only
>>
>>13892410
If you're using Maccas trays you have to stack them, one at a time lasts seconds.
>>
>>13892405
No my gf got drunk and tried to troll once, terribly I might add. I built the truck, she drives a Volvo

We usually only go through Canada on your way to Haines, Ak for fishing trips

Been down the Alcan three times though
>>
>>13892460
It's also shitty as pictured here not a slightly less shitty lowrider. I do tuck it back in the mirror sometimes though.
>>
>>13892432
well, i have bought metal plates to avoid that by now. anyway, we were like 8 people there, pople brought food, a stereo, and their shitboxes. we made a little handling course and donuts competitions and shit. good times

yes, if you own a modern "AWD" vehicle

last winter I saw a new BMW SUV stuck in snow. when he gave it some gas, sometimes no wheels were spinning and sometimes 3 wheels were spinning.

Try and take a trip somewhere where snow is.
You have to know the feeling of having you car slide around at like 20kmh
