My car just died, and fixing it will cost me about the cost of a new shitbox.
So I figured it's new shitbox time. But every shitbox around here is Automatic and I've never driven one. How do I into auto?
Pic related, Saab 9-5 Aero Automatic for sale near me
Going to bump with pictures of this Saab because I'm totally smitten with it
Also everything else nearby is either awful or strangely expensive.
There's something about the lines that really tickle me the right way
Not sure why he's put up two near idential pictues of the side
Not sure about the back end, the hatch isn't great
Interior looks great
94K on the clock and a sorta boost gauge.
Guy's asking £800. Literally the only thing that worries me is the gearbox
And that's it I guess, the ad for those interested

If one of you bastards snaps it up before me, you gotta at least let me drive it though.

Apparently nobody gives a shit
Buy is gud shitbox
>>13884795
Hey,
dont buy it unless is has a full service history most importantly the oil change intervals.
the saabs with the Trionic 7 engines (black ignition casette) from 98-2003 had bad crankcase ventilation systems which caused the oil to foul up fast, which is why it is extremely important to keep the service schedule.
if it has more than 140 000 km on the clock check if the turbo has been replaced.
a tip to check if the turbo is going bad is to look for a puff of blue smoke when starting the engine.
other than that check the usual things. if all is good then buy it, they are very fun cars.

>how do I into auto
>foot on brake
>start car
>put in d
>foot off brake foot on gas
>go
Das it mane

>if it has more than 140 000 km on the clock check if the turbo has been replaced.
The aeros, if that really is one* had Mitsubishi turbos, which will last forever if oil has been changed regularly. The more base models had garret turbos, which were shit.
* the aero did not come with those wheels in the states
>>13887823
>* the aero did not come with those wheels in the states
Yes, it did.
>>13887832
No it did not. Those are 15" the aeros came with either 16 or 17.. I don't think 15 will for the larger aero brakes... 16 might not even fit.
>>13887856
Yes, it did. Up until 2000 or so it had those hideous things.
Just think OP.
$1000 to fix your shitbox, and then it won't break for a long time.
$1000 for a new shitbox which might die from the exact same problem one week later.
>>13887879
The,aero wasn't released until 2000, 17"wheels were standard.
You arnt confusing the aero trim level with it being a station wagon are you?
>>13887823
>>13884757
That isn't an aero
>>13884757
>set car to N
>step on gas until car goes vroom vroom vroom
>shift to d for maximum respect
>>13887914
No, and here is something proving you wrong.

OP isn't in the US, anyway, and the Aero did exist before 2000.
>>13887959
how does what somebody on cl post prove me wrong? People post all kinds of missinformation. He says it has the b234r engine, but no reason to believe that. It doesn't have the aero interior, aero badge or anything else that identifies it as an aero.

Look at the VIN, numbnuts.
>>13888178
OP here, finally back
I ran the number plate against government records. It's always been registered as an Aero, ever since it left the Saab dealer in December 1999
>>13888178
Aero badge wasn't added until the 2007 MY, Aero interior was 2004 MY. Until 2004 Aero was just the powerful engine
>>13888183
>>13888194
well fuck i'm stupid.
>>13888256
It's an easy mistake to make honestly.
I talked to the guy since I made this thread, he phoned me back to change the time I'm seeing it from Thursday to Friday cause work.
It's an Aero, he's got full service history for the 2 years he's owned it, part service history before that. Wheels are OEM/Aftermarket since it came with nigger alloys and he swapped to a set he got out a scrappy, so they might not be Aero wheels
>>13888256
>well fuck i'm stupid.
Yes, you are.
>>13888273
>a scrappy, so they might not be Aero wheels
I think they are. I wasn't aware of the 17" tri spokes, which have the small triangle cut outs. The other smaller tri-spokes don't, but look very similar.
>>13888273
>so they might not be Aero wheels
They are, they're just the ugliest ones.
>>13888306
I really like the trispokes, I'mm check the tyre size as well.
>>13888316
>Implying triangles aren't the best
I now want to get an FC and put those wheels on it. Triangle power
>>13888321
BBS RKs family.
>>13888335
>BBS
I'm selling my BMW because they want £800 for the rear brake lines, I don't want to spend that again on wheels
>>13888347
They were factory bruh.
>>13888362
>Implying any 25 year old car has stock wheels
>>13888362
Damn it.
