Why is the base more chromed out than the top of the line?
>>
Having had both Ford makes "better" more powerful faster reving engines while chevy has boring old reliable ones. Gm makes better transmissions but I still never had a single problem with my F150 transmission. Fords are faster and more fun, I would say chevy is a better work truck but both are 99% the same and will never fail you. They both sell by the millions with Ford having a little more of the fleet market. Toyotas are not bad either but Dodge is a shit.

I really like these but fuck that cost for a 4x4 one
>>

Not even close.

Ford's diesel engines of the last decade:
>6.0L Power Stroke - notorious for headgasket failure, HPOP failure, injector failure, turbo failure, and overall poor reliability in general, however it's not as awful as most people will tell you (when running, it makes good power, decent fuel economy). Needs about $7000+ spent on it before it'll be rock solid.
>6.4L Power Stroke - notorious for blowing turbos and having catastrophic failures. Most engines don't even make it to 200k miles, or even anywhere close to there. Seriously. They also get horrible fuel economy. They do, however, go like shit and have wildly fast throttle response.
>6.7L Power Stroke - once again, notorious for turbo failure. Otherwise, good engine. Lots of power.

GM's diesel engines of the last decade:
>LB7 Duramax - notorious for injector fail every 100k miles or so. Good fuel economy and power.
>LLY Duramax - notorious for overheating and head gasket failure. Again, decent fuel economy and good power.
>LBZ Duramax - arguably the diesel engine of the last decade. Tons of power, decent fuel economy. Not really notorious for any major issues. Biggest issue is cracking connecting rods if running far above stock power.
>LMM Duramax - same as the LBZ, however the DPF kills fuel economy and somewhat hurts reliability since it makes the engine run hotter.
>LML Duramax - same issues and fuel economy as the LMM but much more power.

Hard denying the truth. Yes, Ford had GM beat for diesels in the 90's (by a huge margin), but lately GM is far superior.

Um, I think you're a little backwards too. Seems you're agreeing with him.

Why are new trucks like $40,000+?

I could buy a boomer-mobile for half that and have a beautiful truck.
>>
>>13881996
My Colorado starts at 20k. It doesn't get back seats though. 30k for something like a car.
>>
>>13879357
yo what strain is that mane
>>
>>13881996
you can't even connect an ipod in boomer mobiles
>>
>>13881988
Nope. Ford has made one good engine and two terrible engines. GM has made one awesome, two good, and two mediocre engines.

>>13881996
>Why are new trucks like $40,000+?

Inflation?
>>
>>13882362
The 5.3 is a knocking slow pile of shit.
The 6.0 is a slower knocking pile of shit.
The diesel doesnt count because its not a chevy engine, its also a pain in the ass to work on.
the only good engine for a truck post 4.3 and 350 is the 4.2 inline 6 and that only came in one truck because gm was to retarded to realize how amazing that engine was.

And the reason trucks cost so much is because people are dumb enough to pay that much for them.
>>
>>13882270
Aftermarket radio mane.
>>
>>13882270

Actually, you can stick an aftermarket deck in the glovebox and still have plenty of room for your stuff. I did that in my 1967 truck. It's nice to keep the original radio in just for looks.
>>
>>13881928

4 banger please go, V6 or better
>>
>>13882362
That what he was saying dumbass, that Chevrolet has the better diesel options.
>>
In my experience all American made trucks are virtually the same barring Dodge, they've had some pretty terrible transmission/electrical issues in the past.
>>
>>13879151
In terms of mid-size pickups, I reckon the Isuzu based Colorado is definitely the pick these days. You can keep your Toyo Taco.
Gimme dat 2.8 Duramax

Baby's first tuck
>>
>>13879151
Depends on what you need. I'm of the opinion that the vast majority of large truck owners could do the same thing with just a ranger, even though the newer rangers are getting fucking huge. I need to move shit, I don't need to pull a house around I guess is what I'm saying.
>>
>>13885645
IIRC C&D said the new Tundra was on par with shit Ferd and Gov. Motors were producing 10 years ago.
