It's not specifically terrorist. In most third world countries people drive Honda's and Toyota's. Japanese cars are notoriously reliable, many of the parts remain consistent across generations so it makes finding one easier.
People don't have the luxury of just getting new parts or cars, so they actually maintain their cars unlike Americans. Whether it's taking apart an old car, or nigger-rigging something into place.

All the million mile Cummins club guys spend most of the time on road so it really isn't comparable. Our main work truck is driven everyday for at least 2 hours and an average of 3 and since we got it in 2007 it has only done 65,000 miles. That is an average of 22 miles a day at 5.5 mph
