We're racing GT3 cars on saturday, Stock Cars/Celica GTO/GTE in rF2 any time, and an always-friendly-with-each-other GT6 league as a way to bring /ovg/ together.

Also the same guy who posted the 2014 TC2000, but I'm finding the rear-end of the cars stick too well and hardly 'slide' like they should, so I'd rather CART anyways
Or just do a GT3-season in rFactor for a 'change', like ADAC w/ pitstops or something, idk

Fuck. I played the shit out of the demo for the DC when I was younger. It was only a few years ago I went out and bought the full version for the Dreamcast for nostalgia. How's the PC version? I heard it has online play.

there was a kickstarter for grip which was a reboot of rollcage by the same devs
>>13871308
I like the idea of classics but once again the Balance Of Performanceâ„¢ could be an issue as GT's performance point system makes no sense when it comes to road cars, tuned or factory spec
I like the idea of a spec series but would still like it to be uniquely GT too...
>>13871381
you can download the pc version from abandonware websites
pc version is more of the DC version but supports hd resolutions and accepts community made cars and tracks (and the community has made some damn good tracks)
>>13871390
We could run a stock series maybe with one of their premade race cars. Like how they have that TVR GT3 car and shit.
>>13871390
>>13871399
Miata TC was suggested because miats are definitely /o/, they're easy to drive, and racing should be closer than ever.
>>13871441
How many tracks will be on this line up?
>>13871456
7 I would imagine, that's how many we ran this series. I suggested we do one of each type every week in order of real, original, city.

we should do a custom track for a finale, using bryce canyon or magnificent park's track map to make it. or use whatever.
>>13871471
Yeah, I'd prefer the races go back to timed races like we did race one and do 15m x 2 heats. I was thinking something like this for the track line up.
>R1 - Tsukuba
>R2 - Trial Mountain
>R3 - Madrid
>R4 - Motegi East
>R5 - Deep Forest

oh how I missed that feel. I'd forgotten how stiff the PS1 D-Pad was. The GBC's D-Pad and buttons were much the same.
I never realized though, that your progress only applies to your car. You could beat the whole game on the french car, but if you switch to the chinese car, you are back at square 1. odd.

Also Emraal, if you see this. Send me your idea through my steam, which is Grounded Fin. We can never have enough street car series. /ovg/ deserves a couple of laid back series instead of racetrack with racecars only series.
Just popped in to say that everything that went wrong with the GT3 season was because I spent all my time conspiring against SJ instead of doing any actual work.

I've seen at least two different tracks on all webms posted. To be perfectly fair, of the original tracklist, people tended to stick to Daytona and Charlotte anyway.
You can't win this. Turn Left is coming. If Euros want to participate, they will have to learn how to drive in a circle without crashing into other drivers. Don't worry, there will be easily-distinguished road courses for you to complain about while losing to a bunch of American professional NEETs.

Yeah, it's pretty damn good. The feeling of driving, the way the car moves over little imperfections in the road feels very real. The tire model is amazing and inspires confidence in the cars, it's so much easier to tell when you're driving at the limit.
The downside to rF2 is that it makes a lot of things pointlessly complicated, like setting up a server, or editing a car's specs.

I just want shit to be organized this time so we can hopefully attract a few more people who saw what a shit show the first series was. Lets iron out the details early so people know what to expect.
Also, I thought about RBR, but Motegi East has less straights unless we run the short version of RBR.

I think decisive action is more practical than searching for unanimous consensus.
The biggest improvement to make over the previous series in my view would be to publish the each event at least three days in advance (and announce it here) and for the organiser to let people know if he's going to be late to the event/wants someone else to open the room. Also, announcements for any rule changes should be made in thread and on the club forum.

it is a video game. who cares loser
>>13874087
Yeah I like how it looks but it has a sub fee for the online component? I thought iRacing was the only thing that had that.
>>13874109
Just buy the lifetime subscription, and pretend that the game itself just cost $80
>>13874132
so wait until its 50% off, gotcha.
>>13874153
it is now, 40% off on the steam release. Ends on the 19th
>>13874153
It's 50.99 with 40% off for the lifetime fee (no subscription for online)
This is the same discounted price it was going for several weeks ago and will likely be the cheapest it gets for a long time.
Does someone have a link to (all), Porsches for Assetto Corsa
Inb4 they suck, they are not that bad
Return of /ovglfs/ when?
Does there exist any guides on how to mod things in rF1/GSC, or do you simply have to google your problems/figure it out for yourself?
>>13874509
It's pretty much copy and paste.
Many people in rFactor have multiple installs of the game for different mods.

Wreckfest:
>unfinished and glitchy
>multiplayer netcode is crap
>manual shifting is completely broken
>usually only one or two servers have people in them
>racing in a clean server is incredibly fun
>entering a dirty racing server and knowing what your doing is even more fun
$33 CAD, probably not worth it right now.
NFS: Underground 2
>old, outdated
>still leaps and bounds better than NFS2015
>driving model is arguably the most satisfying in the entire series
>surprisingly deep tuning options, including ECU and Boost tuning
>career mode takes a longer time to complete than you'd expect
Easily torrented.
iRacing
>notoriously expensive
>cars bounce off walls and the ground like rubber balls, makes crash avoidance impossible at times
>great multiplayer
>content is still kinda lacking for the price, but you can still have fun with what little content you have
Price depends on your subscription, but annual sub is 50% off at $50 until December 4th.
Those are pretty much the only racing games I've played that I would recommend to other people. iRacing is great if you have deep pockets, NFSU2 is awesome for people on a budget with shitty hardware, and Wreckfest is kinda terrible but is great fun when it actually works.

>The biggest improvement to make over the previous series in my view would be to publish the each event at least three days in advance
Shit, I'm trying to get the whole thing ironed out two weeks in advance for the whole thing. Hopefully this way we can avoid conflict and confusion, people can practice ahead of time for tracks they're not as strong at etc...
>All of the races where my connection jewed me out of contention at the grid, don't forget :^)
I feel Fordâ„¢ you m90. Race Car lag punted me into next week in R1 T1 when I had a chance to win starting at the front of the pack.

Usually just pick a car I like and run a few laps until I've beat people.

Extra brake mapping helps the GT-R turn, but it also amplifies the effect of its fucked-up suspension.
The GT-R has a problem where it lifts and locks the inside rear wheel under braking/turning, which will cause you to spin instantly when you try to accelerate unless you're paying close attention to the sound of your transmission and tires. If you're using TCS, it will spin that tire all the way through the turn and fuck your tire temps until the only way you can corner is sideways.
I've had to run the entire season with a 2-inch rake to keep the rear tires on the ground, and I highly recommend others try it. Set up the rake, minimize understeer, and the GT-R will destroy the competition.
also, the GT-R seems to be difficult to follow. Its cornering speeds are generally lower, it has to brake earlier than any other car, but it's acceleration and high top speed mean you can pull on anybody from anywhere, and defend your position without aggressive tactics. I've noticed a lot of people in other cars spinning while following me, clearly attempting to beat my right foot to the floor. But it's pointless. You can't beat the GT-R once all those horses get to the ground.
>>13874796
and im gonna add to this by saying please dont use the gtr if you cant figure out how to brake in traffic

also
>still not american cars at all
>not even a delorean

>>13874808
Very much this. If I want to stay on someone's tail in a corner, I need to downshift first, lift before the braking zone, and then gently brake into position. You cannot panic stop, because the GT-R just won't. Divebombing is tricky too, since you have to beat the other car to your earlier braking zone, and forcing the GT-R to slow down by aggressively downshifting will blow the engine. Lightly trailbraking into corners with accurate downshifts is probably the best way to drive it.
On the other hand, it's pretty heavy and very stable in collisions. Being a midpack racer I get bumped around quite a bit, but it's usually the other cars who spin. It's a very good car for new drivers who want results, but it's difficult to tune and drive.
>>13874820
it also seems like they fucked it up
i dont understand why, the original alpha was so good, why did they make it like this
>>13874796
>>13874878
Kita. Offical gtr salesman of ovg.
>>13874715
The manual shifting in Wreckfest is pretty shit unless you have an H-shifter. It's very slow and unresponsive with paddles, even when your car is stopped (such as trying to reverse after faceplanting a wall), and it just increases the frustration level as you sit there slowly clicking through the gears to get to reverse, then slowly clicking up two to get going again while every other car wants to put you back in the wall.
>>13874796
Extra mapping as in higher value? I though brake mapping only affected the strength of engine braking.
>>13874901
The drifting in the original alpha was too easy and fucking shit
I'm glad they are trying to make it require more effort but as it is right now it is fuck, a slight countersteer to lessen drift angle makes you nearly come out of your drift
Also the engine noise is fucking terrible and needs to be sorted. I never know when to shift
>>13874820
i preferred the old speedo...

would you mind uploading it sometime please?

>>13874878
who needs good acceleration and high top speed when you have superior ROAD GRIP
>>13874947
i liked the original, it seemed more like the old arcade games.
it has manual shifting now? neat.
>>13874919
dead wrong. you can only shift with the paddles or leave it in automatic now if you want to be quick, using the H-shifter means your shifts will take about two seconds before you can get into power again. it was working perfectly before, but they broke it somehow and haven't fixed it.
>>13874952
totally thought you were just going to take out the GT at the 0:14 second mark in that webm.
>>13874921
It does. But as you decelerate, the extra braking torque (compression torque?) tries to pull the rear wheels away from the front. This can do all kinds of things depending on the car, but generally it adds extra braking stability and a little oversteer, especially when downshifting. In essence, it makes the cars behave a little like an arcade racer.
On the other hand, high brake mapping will make it so you slow down more if and when you have to lift, which can ruin passing opportunities.
>>13874965
it would have just been plain rude to take out the current championship leader two weeks in a row
>>13874921
>>13874981
Engine/brake mapping in gmotor is the percent of engine throttle left on when you "close" the throttle or lift off completely

so, in essence, to get an FR to rotate on corner entry without fucking with the suspension geometry, increase brake mapping?

>>13875079
