you don't want to. In daily driving its annoying. Anyone who says otherwise should stick their track day bro decal up their ass and go cum on their miata.
>>
learn nigga
>>
Then learn faggot
Takes an hour tops if you have a shitty clutch, less if it's a good clutch.
>>
>>13867628
>put clutch in
>release clutch while in gear
>add throttle enough so it doesn't stall
Congrats, you can drive stick!

literally, factually,documentarily wtf

I have a 5 speed Mustang GT. It sits in the drive way most of the time because I rather drive my automatic truck in traffic. Deal with it faggot. Manual sucks for daily driving.
>>
Dont. Get an auto for daily driving (aka not bench racing). More practical.

And a bike for fun.
>muh RPMs

this

I put up an ad on craigslist. If this first dude I'm meeting sucks, I'll try again. Possibly making a new car bro, get to drive something different from my shitmobile, and if I just suck at it, saves me from investing in a manual that I can't drive.

fact. it just sits there collecting shit because its a pain in the ass to drive everyday
>>
>>13867696
I daily drive my foxbody in the summer, with a (supposedly) cobra -spec clutch (so really damn stiff because its also a cable system). Hasn't been an issue for me.
>>
>>13867711
when you have to commute through NYC and you get held up in an hour of clutch-in clutch-out out of 1st and neutral, suddenly you lose your desire to drive the car.
>>
>>13867717
that's not the fault of the car, that's the fault of the driver. do you blame god for making you shitpost on 4chan every day as well?
>>
>>13867748
im sharing my opinion to OP, not to you. Just because you don't like what I have to say, it doesn't render it shit posting. Its like a liberal crying racism when they hear something they don't like. Fuck off m8.

>NYC
Nigga just walk or take the train
>>
>>13867758
why would I take the train. 2 hours next to hobos and strangers vs 45 mins in privacy and comfort.
>>
>>13867758
Take the train over drive auto?

What an idiot.
>>
>>13867748
You're a faggot.
>>
>>13867717

What a bummer. I drive my 5 speed through San Francisco traffic everyday and now I get bored when I drive my automatic.

Modern clutches are so light, how is it hard to drive daily? I learned on an old pick up though so my thought process may be a bit skewed.

I stalled my SS after driving around an 18 speed Western Star around our lot during some weekend work

Clutches are heavy as fuck, but easy to find the grab point. Couldn't feel the grab point in my SS after driving them back to back

Its not really challenging to start and upshift. You could get around town with maybe 1:30 of practice.

Great rational thought there guy.
>>
>>13870791
I drove a fiat 500 for a while, first manual, it had a feature called hill start
When I came to a full stop the tach hovered at 1100 rpm; never had a problem getting into first on a hill
Is this cheating? I was confused. Everything I read about manuals gave your advice about 1st gear on a hill; was truthfully kinda disappointed when I never had to do it.
>>
>>13872983

Yes it's cheating. But given that car has no torque it's probably needed
>>
>>13867628
Learn it, even if you don't have a car with a manual, it's still a useful skill to have.
>>
>>13867628
i've driven manual all my life, so easy after a while its mad, don't even have to focus on gears or clutch at all, second nature. driving through traffic or absolutely anywhere fine, easy, don't understand how anyone can be so retarded as to not drive manual.
>>
>>13867661
The bike is still manual, though.
>>
>>13873868
But you have to switch gears constantly. It's stressfull as fuck.

Corner? Switch down to second or third or first, depending on how sharp the corner is.

Speed bump? Second or third, depends on the speed bump.

Need to go up a hill? Shift down. Which gear? How the fuck should I know?

Need to get out on the road quickly? Make sure to give it enough gas, otherwise you'll stall out. But not too much. It's bad for the clutch, or your wheels will spin, or a giant African man will come and fuck you in the ass.

How the fuck does everybody on the planet manage this, and I don't?

You just have to do it. I had all these same questions, but now that I've been driving manual for a few months it's second nature.

It might be different car to car depending on ratios, but I never need first after I've gotten the car moving. The shifter won't even go into first when downshifting over 5mph anyway.

For speed bumps I always shift to second. They're there for a reason, go slow so you don't damage your suspension.

For hills, just shift down one and if that's not enough then shift down one more. If you're driving the same roads you should know it by the second or third time.

Mine is a slightly underpowered AWD so wheelspin isn't an issue, but try launching it a few times and you'll get it.

Driving manual is basically trial and error until you understand it. Don't worry about stalling, nobody in the history of driving manual has ever not stalled at least a couple times. It'll come to you. It's all about getting the feel for it.

Hooray!
USA! USA! USA!
>>
>>13873931
It's not stressful after you learn; it's just muscle memory
>>
>>13867641
automatic is a little easier but much less engaging. I don't find manual to be that annoying or hard and I drive in traffic every day.
>>
>>13873931
> It's stressfull as fuck.
eh, not really. after a month or two it's basically muscle memory and very easy

>I've haven't drive an automatic in my whole life....

And I commute daily through bumper to bumper traffic and don't stall shit, 11 years with my license.
>>
>>13873931
>retard detected
its so easy to drive manual, it truly is second nature after a while and you select the right gears all the time, rev matching on downshifts using my heal for the throttle and my toes for the brake if I need to slow quickly... manage to drive smoother than any auto and haven't stalled in many years, since I was first learning.
