Late night, just got off work rush home: Aphex, drum & bass, anything high BPM
night cruising, windows down: Trap or stuff like Nujabes
Daytime, long drive: Gran Turismo 2 OST, Classic rock.
for ultra comfy roadtrip music/relaxing music: OutKast, Fugees, maybe some Drake, I don't really like his music that much though
for just getting hyped as fuck: Run The Jewels, Denzel Curry, etc. I have too many rap artists to name

I like to listen to Isaac Hayes, Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, and Roy Ayers when I'm going fast.
I get really really bad anxiety when going fast and I tense up and shake. Really bad.
I shake and shiver so bad I feel like it might take away from my driving ability. I thought I was gonna spaz one day and die.
So I started listening to R&B and Soul music to calm myself down. And bam. It hit me. I love this music. And I drive better listening to it.

American hip-hop is replete with insightful lyrics if you know where to look.
You'll find it mostly in East Coast hip hop because the style of music allows for much more artistic and lyrical individuality. West Coast rap also has sad, funny, angry or thoughtful shit, but not much.
