Philips screwdriver, turn 90 degrees to the left, flat screwdriver under the head of the screw and pry it up

I've tried. For about 5 minutes and although it turns it just won't come out

you could pry them with a flat after you unscrew them with a phillips. There is also a tool designed to remove the fasteners.

If it does that then you should be able to just pull the cowling off by that point

Use a little flat head screwdriver to put under the edge of the actual screw head. Put a little upwards pressure on it, then turn with Phillips.
>>
Are these types of screws supposed to break off??

Unscrew like you did, and gently lift up.

Jews?

Bumpers usually have cheap push tabs that are one time use, very cheap to replace however. These fasteners are equally cheap but they aren't supposed to break. Worse comes to worse, OP will remove the fan shroud altogether and not bother to put it back on.

Heil Hitler
So many of these little fucks are neigh-impossible to remove without breaking it, which is the reason why I've got small bags of just about all the types laying around for whenever I'll need to remove some trim or similar
>>
>>13847552
Unrelated but, GM uses screws on their ignition locks that are designed to break on installation. The heads break off, so it's a real mother fucker to remove them.
>>
>>13846904
Step one: put Phillips head screwdriver under the "screws" as you call them
Step two: with the Phillips screwdriver wedged under the screw, push down with your dominant hand on the screwdriver. The screw should start to move up
Step three: once the screw has reached the point where you can get a grip on it with your hand, pull up until removal
Step four: kill self after realizing how easy this really is

Replace Phillips with flathead screwdriver. My bad, all these people saying Phillips in the thread threw me off

This.

That's a form of rivet

Dis. Is no joke if you work on plastic trim vehicles. If you dont buy a big container of them or baggem at the junkyard you end up paying 5 bucks for just 3 plastics. Srsly is fking ridiculous.
>>
>>13850713
No, it isn't. It's literally called a shear screw.
>>
>>13846904
If you look closely you will see the "screw" is actually two pieces.

Hold the outer piece. Turn the inner piece (without pushing down on the screw).

Once the inner piece has threaded out enough to grab it, grab it and pull it out. Repeat with the outer piece.

If the inner piece will not thread out at all, wedge a small prying device between them and try to pop the center piece out

Approved answer.

Can you see the picture clearly enough to see the "ring" on it? I can see the outline of something, but I can't tell if thats the actual gap for that type of clip/screw or if its just remaining marks after the molding
