They are great vehicles, I don't give a shit what /o/ says about them. Toyota took all the strong bits from the Prado/Taco/4Runner and combined it with a durable shell. The transmission works extremely well off paved surfaces too; I always preferred manual until I drove this thing through some sand dunes.

Not just about the quickness, it's how it behaves. My biggest gripe with autos is when I encounter hills, they are ALL fucking retarded and don't know how to downshift properly. I either get some insane 9000RPM downshift into 1st gear, or it just holds the gear, bogs down, then slams into overdrive and begins steadily revving higher until I'm doing 150kmh up the hill.
Manuals just have smoother throttle application, and it's even in EVERY gear. Regardless of the ratio, you always feel you're putting the same power to the engine with the pedal. Automatics seem random and retarded. I've driven trucks, cars, and SUVs with autos, all of them were stupid compared to manuals.
