What do I look for when buying a wrx secondhand ?
I would buy new buy want the wagon
make sure its stock
look for one owned by a white guy over the age of 40
or a girl that looks like shes never had the throttle more than 50% open
ask for pictures, then reverse image search them to see where else they posted. If it's a forum, start digging into their posts and look for red flags

I can vouch for this, used wrx's that aren't stock are usually broken in someway or another. Lowered cars affect the suspension and handling. In my used wrx, the previous owner had put a shitty over sized intercooler on it and it had rubbed through the a/c pipes that run along the back of the engine bay. Also, if they make shitty changes like that, they probably don't do regular maintenance at all.
