Hello /o/, lets see what we can come up with. List how the truck should be made.

Smaller pickup, like Ranger sized.
4x4 with portal axles.
I4 diesel multifuel engine.
Either a 5spd manual or a 5spd automatic with paddles.
Painted camo.
Covered in mud over the camo.
Loaded with guns.

Why either of these things?

Gotta be Manual

No

It's an overrated meme transmission

Good job falling for GM marketing

The Military uses whatever is the cheapest to them.

So would you say that the Detroit 6.2 is the best engine to use since they put them in the HMMWV?

No, because that's fully retarded

Because it's a prime number. 3 speeds is too few for usage over a wide range of speeds and what the fuck would I do with 7 gears? 5 is the only option.

>But don't you want to go off road? That's why you have portals, isn't it?
Are you implying I can't go off-road in a manual? Personal experiences would reason otherwise.

Note that I said 5spd manual or 5spd automatic with paddles. So long as I can tell the transmission what gear to be in and not be second guessed, I'm happy.

I did note that, but you can do away with the manual altogether and use a 6,7,8,9 speed transmission instead of a 5 speed. This is 2015, not 1995.

Is there even a point to having that many gears? Unless you're a semi truck, I mean.

Seriously. It seems like an 8 or 9 speed would just be constantly shifting, when it could get by with less complexity by being a 5 or 6 speed.
>>
>>13834846
Having more gears in a truck means the drivetrain has to strain less overall when pulling a load. You know, the purpose of a truck.
>>
>>13834900
And yet the big boy pickups all use 6 speed transmissions.
>>
>>13834951
Except that dodge 8 speed amirite

design a truck?

6 wheel drive
4 wheel steering
large load bed
high compression multi fuel engine (runs on anything combustable)
high air intake
high exhaust
components shared through entire series of models
engine and trans come as one unit that can be swapped out in under 2 hours
amphibious
water jet propulsion when in water
>>
>>13834958
I said big boy. They aren't mating that 8 speed to a Cummins. The trucks designed to pull heavy shit have 6 speeds.
>>
>>13834967

>>
>>13834974
Because it takes more time to develop the stronger transmissions used in 1 ton light duty trucks.
>>
>>13835016
Also gonna be heavy as shit, I imagine.
>>
Size of a 1st Gen Tacoma, think 00-04, v8/turbo diesel option in stick. All model variants too.

Auto is a dual range, manual is a 4*3 twin box because lol. Light duty model has a 6spd conventional manual only. Boxes are 6.5 or 8ft. Cabs are 2dr single bench or 4dr dual bench. No center consoles. EVER. Also super powered steering. Sway bars are standard but quick release for off road use. Tires are 35" diameter and transfer case is hi-direct-lo shifting engines consist of 4 and 6 curl diesels and a multi fuel turbine.
>>
>>13835039
Because an 8 gear transmission is going to have more material in than an equally built 6 gear transmission.
>>
>>13835050
Literally 1 extra set of planetary gears. It wouldn't be much heavier than whatever transmission it replaces.

Extended cab
6 wheel drive 30/40/30

Inline 6 multi fuel diesel made by Catipillar
Body on frame

Front and rear winch
Dual battery dual alternator
On board air compressor
7 inch Stack exhaust
Beadlocked wheels
4 full size spares
Exo cage
Adjustable Air Suspension

Feel free to add on or recommend changes to some of the items amigo.
I want something rugged as shit.
In my mind the truck isn't too large but I don't know how compact a 6x6 can get.
Especially with full size spares in the stake bed and still having some room left over to do truck bed stuff with.

The engine would be one 60 litre cylinder.

This. Gotta have a big Bullbar on the front. I'd go crew cab with the option to use the back as a covered, locked cargo area instead of the rear seats.

Yes with option for 5 1/2 - 6ft bed, easy lift + reasonable axles, and good styling cues.

Really though the diesel makes it, I would even take the 8ft bed option and chop it down a little if I had to.
>>
>>13836015
>Yes with option for 5 1/2 - 6ft bed, easy lift + reasonable axles, and good styling cues.
Yeah it would have a short bed option and be body on frame and such. It's meant to be a good blue collar/hobbyist truck. So not one for towing massive trailers but just picking up a load of wood from Lowes, carrying workshop machines, mulch/cement etc while also not being fucking awful to DD due to gas and being massive like most trucks have gotten.
