Deal with an abused car, or a neglected car?
Neglected car is an abused car
>>13829550
Would you rather drive a ford, or have your dick kicked?
I'd take the dick kicking
>>13829559
This isn't about your childhood.
Ban bicycles from public roads or ban women from public roads?
>>13829571
You got me.
But really, running 10k on oil is being abused
That being said I'd really take neither, the disadvantages are the same for both, questionable engine/ car life because of lack of care
>>13829550
Abused.
You might have to replace the transmission and suspension in those.
On a neglected car, its body is likely rusted the fuck out and it interior eaten up, and engine dead.
>>13829550
abused car
at lest that way you know the parts that are still working are solid and the rest just needs a clean up
neglected car will have all sorts of terminal issues
Fast car with an auto or slow car with a manual?
i pick the manual slow car
>>13829575
ban women
the cycles are only hurting themselves
>>13829595
So does everyone else on /o/.
>>13829602
Ban women from driving or ban automatic transmissions?
>>13829609
Not slow
>>13829621
>miata
>fast
pick one
depends on what you need
daily- abused. just swap or fix the busted up engine and also add some performance parts
to race or some shit- neglected. they will be cheaper and your gonna rip out most of it anyway and weld shit in.
>>13829618
tough choice
ban the auto then the women will have to pay some attention
>>13829641
I'd wager that banning autos would take 90% of shitty drivers off the road.
>>13829550
Would rather an abused car. Because chances are more likely that somebody who beats on a car is more likely to understand and keep up with the maintenance to prevent it getting too far gone.
Meanwhile, I've bought neglected cars and it's generally just bad all around.
>>13829649
could raise the bar enough
the people who say it is easy to work a manual transmission most likely underestimate their own ability
that said I learnt on a car with no synchromesh and badly worn shift linkages
>>13829683
There's nothing hard about manual though. All you have to do is learn the clutch's bite point and shift when the engine noise indicates high RPMs or low RPMs.
>>13829683
manual really isn't that difficult though, I would imagine anybody who can drive a car decently could get a car moving around a parking lot within a half hour and driving around town in a few hours tops.
I think the thing is that a lot of people just see it as more daunting than it actually is. I wanted to teach my girl how to drive manual but she was scared and was always asking how I know when to change gears and how to tell where your clutch is or whatever... told her really after a few days it's all about feel. I've been DDing a manual car now for around a year and a half and it's second nature, pretty much no thinking about it needed. It all just becomes automatic.
>>13829715
>drive car for a few years
>it becomes automatic
Jesus Christ how horrifying.
>>13829704
>the crutch's bite point
that's the only thing that got me at first
new drivers often ride the clutch to get a feel for it rather than the quick dispatch of a seasoned driver
shift point is kind of obvious its when you feel the weight of the car come off the transmission
but I have met people who are very jerky with all the cars controls even tho they have been driving for years
>>13829752
kek
>>13829759
After a while you can tell your RPM just by the vibration of the engine. Kind of like how Scotty can tell the Enterprise's speed based solely on the hum of the deck plates.
>>13829768
based scotty
>>13829752
riding bicycle
change gears
legs slow for a split second till synchrony
all done without thought
driving a manual is easy as fuck. Animals from the wild with IQs of 10 and no opposing thumbs can drive a manual. Stop thinking your special children of Europe.
>>13829768
>just by the vibration of the engine
more easily with older cars
>>13829566
I'd take a Ford F6
>>13829790
fuck in my '74 hilux you can tell by the vibration in the pedals, as well as in how loud/quite the steering column rattles.
>>13830460
used to driving morris minor
test drive ford fiesta rs
feels like I'm doing 50 check speedo to find I'm doing 75
oops
>>13829618
Ban autos. There's no downside.
>>13829787
>Animals from the wild with IQs of 10 and no opposing thumbs can drive a manual.
>opposing thumbs
>opposing
>IQs of 10
It's not difficult, but you have to remember the mindset of someone having no manual experience. Picture someone offering to teach you how to re-plumb their bathroom. Shit can go wrong, it's not your stuff, and potential damages are high. No amount of "it's easy don't worry" will really get you over that if that's what is stopping you.
At least that's how I felt before I bought my standard. Never tried it until the test drive, but it was basically my car at that point. Anything I did was on me, so I was comfortable giving it a go. No pressure, etc etc. Makes a difference.
>>13829550
neglected. its easier to get one going than trying to make a whore back into a virgin.
>>13829641
Man, women in general can't drive for shit. Regardless if it is autotragic or manuel.
In Europe 99% of people drive manuel and women still can't drive to save their lives.
My gf literally texts me/takes selfies/whatever while driving a manuel.
Gotta admire her sleight of hand tho.
