Alright /o/ I got a question.

I'm willing to put down a fair chunk of change (10k) for a new van. Currently I drive a Chrysler T&C but it's getting old. For my next van I want to upgrade to a party v& type vehicle so I'm split between several vehicles

Ford Transit
Dodge Sprinter
Ford Econoline

I would be using this vehicle for commuting mostly, but it must be a panel van. I might occassionally have to pick up people, and it also has to be roomy enough for IT needs. Also power/weight is also a concern which has pulled me to the Ford Transit Connect more.

Any suggestions or additional insight into what I should buy? The Econoline in my area is by far the cheapest but probably not the best option.

Nobody is selling them in my area. I agree, they are nice but I'd like something utilitarian that I can beat on and not feel too bad
>>
>>13827768
They have very disgusting looking interior, way worse than any GM or Chrysler. I don't know what the fuck were they thinking.

Transit Connect.
That bulletproof Focus drivetrain and large Focus aftermarket support at your disposal

>>13827768
What the fucking hell do you think the Dodge Sprinter is retard? It's a Mercedes Sprinter with "Mercedes Benz" crossed out and "Dodge" written in in crayon.
>>
>>13827806
I really like the idea of the aftermarket. It would fit my needs very well, especially if stuff breaks
>>
>>13827795
Yeah that is pretty bad, shit is chrysler-tier.
>>
>>13827830
Ah, it's a newer model. The 2000-ish are shit.
>>
>>13827843
*barfing violently*

Mercedes made some pretty ugly interiors for their cars in that era, but they weren't *this* bad.

The only difference in the platform Focus vs Transit Connect is that the Transit Connect uses a twist beam rear axle with leafsprings while the Focus uses a multi-link IRS with coil springs. The difference was done so the Transit Connect would have a flat load floor and haul loads of shit. Consequentially, to lower the rear of the Transit Connect requires removing the axle, welding on new brackets, and putting it back together with the leafsprings mounted on the bottom of the axle.

Front suspension is identical to the Focus and it uses the same engine/transmissions as the Focus, so a manual swap is possible and has been done before. Only tough to find part is importing the manual transmission shifter surround from Europe.

Also, the Transit Connect's wheels are 5 lug, and share their bolt pattern with US market Volvo's.

In theory would I be able to get parts from Ford for the RS and use some of them in the Transit Connect?
>>
>>13827922
No. The brakes from a new Focus ST MAY work, but no guarantees
But FSWerks has a turbo kit for 2008-2011 Focus's that works on the Transit Connect

FSWerks will become your god. Pic related. 2 different 2008-2011 Focus's they built for different competitions.

FSWerks is the god of Focii.
The Transit Connect is the van of choice because it can piggyback of the Focus's aftermarket support.

As mentioned the Transit Connect has some unique parts to it, like the 5 lug hubs and the rear suspension.. Beyond that, a lot should swap over.

also, fast Transit Connects are nothing new. Europe's been doing it for a while. Here's one with a MK1 Focus RS engine swapped in.

are there any new production vans equipped with awd?
>>
>>13829208
The Chevy Express is available with AWD and a 5.3L LS V8 engine...
>>
>>13829224
Do they still manufacture them?
>>
>>13829224
well it was, before they discontinued the Express 1500.
>>
>>13829236
They do, but only 2500 and 3500 versions. 1500 models sold like shit and couldn't meet improved CAFE requirements so the 1500 model was killed in 2014.
