So I've just calculated a ballpark cost for my first major project. Its gonna cost me $30,000 - $35,000 + "labour", so all up will probably be $45,000 - $50,000(au).
Basically im going to get an interior swap, paintjob, engine + tranny swap, and a s/c @ 8psi. (Plus basics like fuel lines, brakes & suspension, etc).
The car is a BA Falcon wagon.
Engine will be a V8 that will bolt on
Tranny will be 5 speed manual
Interior will be pic
S/c will put 450kW (600hp) at the flywheel.
Will i have the fastest wagon on /o/?

But it will still be slow.

It will be faster than it is at the moment.

Maybe, you'll still have the slowest brain though.

If you want to see any kind of return on your investment, you'd be better off putting your money in a more desirable vehicle.

Hsv build quality, reliable 300kw, already has brembos and top notch suspension, way nicer interior then any falcon..

It's not impossible.

But you're not going to have fun in a car if you're waiting for it to make a financial return. Work is meant to make money, not hobbies.

I calculated the maximum possible cost for the project, which included purchasing a complete donor car instead of parts from a write off, brand new s/c instead of 2nd hand, all of the expensive choices.
If I can find all the bits & peices I need without having to hunt down entire cars, than I would estimate that the entire cost for my project would be no more than $30,000.
Or LS swap it for 1/10 the cost

Obviously a vehicle you drive on a regular basis isn't going to make money, but you'll at least have something that holds a decent market value at the end of spending a small fortune on it.
