Is that connected by a second story to the rest of the house/mansion? Even so it looks a bit too well finished for me to be comfortable wrenching in it, pretty, but too much glass/rock flooring.

I know that feel. I used to see this place every day when I was a student, riding the bus to the south end of the city every day. I wanted to just have it so badly, with all its ancient plumbing and insane porcelain wiring. It would get covered in this creeping ivy in the summers, looked so awesome. Just add a bay door to the rear and restore shit in there all day.

Yes, I'm fully aware of the risk. Which is why I plan on asking the landlord if I can rebar the shit out the window, reinforce the door, and somehow work with the bay doors.
But at this point it's really grinding my balls not having a place to relax in, make stuff, and move some stuff out my tiny apartment.

>>
>>13820329

Those two aren't really comparable. One is an enthusiast, the other is just some cunt who works at an investment firm.
>>
>>13820373
Probably true. I was just picking decent looking double garages.

They're increasingly difficult to find in the UK, all of the new build estates don't even have a single garage big enough for a car, as most people are leasing / financing and don't see a car as something to really look after.

My plan is to buy somewhere with spare land to build a garage on, as many enthusiasts are now doing - pic related, although certainly beyond my budget..
>>
I modeled a dream garage in Solidworks a few years back. It was basically a very spacious six car garage with drive space down the center that was two stories high.

Then in the back about 1/3rd of the garage space was walled in for a downstairs lounge/gameroom/mancave with adjacent gym area and above that was a second story loft area open to and overlooking the garage with couches, TV, and a guest room/bathroom.

I priced it all out and it would have cost about $150,000 for the structure. More with the lifts, tools, and furnishings. Probably a $250,000 endeavor once you have the land.

I have all the files on my work computer still. It was partially a daydreaming exercise, partially a plan for when I'm making enough money to do it.

If this thread is still up when I get back to my work computer I'll post the floorplan and some renders.

Besides the usual multi-bay stuff with tools and lifts and shit, my dream garage would be integrated into my living room or bedroom which would allow easy viewing of a car. Kinda like making my car furniture inside my home instead of being cooped up in some isolated compartment where no one would see it.

That was in a large warehouse building segregated for individuals to build garages in an "autopark" type facility. The tenants then go in and build their little "garages" among a bunch of others on land they don't own. That picture is of the guys 'garage' before he even got done with it. When he did get done with it he only put three cars in it and just assembled a Cobra kit car there.

I'd love to find an old warehouse that was double zoned, or recently re-zoned, so I could build a small apartment in it.

With a big ass compressor outside in a cage, air tool pluming hanging from the bays, a lift, and a small machine shop. Just enough to mill my own heads, turn my own valves and valve seats etc. a flow bench would be cool too.

I evidently put in a big counter workbench with a sink alongside the back with cabinets on the wall, and beneath the work bench with my toolbox to the side. My ceiling is R50 closed cell spray foam and blown, my walls are R40 closed cell spray foam, 2 coats of epoxy on the floor and a hardened clear, 5000W fan forced heater, insulated garage door and 600W of lighting.

You just have to layer badly insulated things inside of one another until the innermost area becomes well insulated. Also provides all basic amenities of housing in a space saving package if you hook up some wires and pipes. You just need good ventilation in the surrounding garage to keep the heat and fumes from building up.
