So I finally money shifted my FoST... I was going about 60-65

So I finally money shifted my FoST... I was going about 60-65 and instead of 4th I grabbed 2nd. Was probably over 8k rpm, hard to say exactly because I stomped the clutch almost instantly.

Dash lit up for a second then all the lights turned right off. Car made a funny noise until I got off the ramp and after turning it off for 5 minutes then turning it back on back to normal. I have an accessport so I looked to see if it logged that code it threw when I money shifted and there's nothing.

Am I fucked bros? I drove the car about another 20 miles home and nothing out of the ordinary so I'm fairly certain a piston didn't blast through some valves, but what else can a money shift fuck up?

I've read a few instances of that happening, the car goes into "limp mode" to prevent any damage plus you have a rev limiter so that should prevent any crazy over revving.

All the times they've turned the car off and on and it drove normally.

Don't worry bro Ford knew this kinda shit would happen so they put measures in to prevent damage.

The funny noise is limp mode. Both the ST's will act like shit after something really crazy happens until they are turned on and off. Once you 'reboot' the car limp mode is turned off.

One or two money shifts over the lifetime of an engine are unlikely to take too much lifespan off it, and if you do any catastrophic damage you will know immediately. Lucky.

Rev limiter is only a fuel/air cutoff and not a mechanical limiter. Nothing is going to stop the drive wheels from over revving the engine if you drop to the wrong gear.

I've literally never hit 2nd trying for 4th. Fucking ever.

I've hit 5th trying to for 3rd, I've grinded first and reverse, but never gone from 5th to 2nd and I seriously doubt I ever will.

Shit I grind the gears like once every 2 weeks in my 2003 dodge Dakota. Terrible sound lol, still going strong @ 162k miles and I drive that shit at 90 on I-95. Ive only grinded gears at very low speeds though. Had a handful of money shifts too. I think you all are just scared. Op pushed in the clutch right away, not like he drove for 30 seconds at 8k rpm, it's fine.

Don't worry about it. I money shift my on purpose. The engine will kill itself if it deems it to harsh. Try redlining sometime. As soon as you hit it power will cut off.
