Hate them or love them, but Ferrari is the most important sportscar-maker in the world and THE benchmark for all other competitors.
Thoughts?
>>
>>13815153
Koenigsegg would like to have a word with you.
>>
>>13815153
Ferraris are over priced and over hyped rich people cars lets be honest.
The only people who own them are douche bags with too much money and no clue how to modify a car.
Considering i could build a car that beats a ferrari in all areas for under 30,000 they are just garbage fashion accessories.
>>
The Enzo was the last Ferrari worth a shit
>>
>>13815153
As much as I love Ferrari, they're kinda in their own division. You can't be better or worse. Ferrari makes ferraris.
>>

which supercar isn't made for rich people?

oh, okay. you're retarded
>>

>The only people who own them are douche bags with too much money

This is a silly thing to say

>modify a car

What if people don't want a modded car

>beats a ferrari in all areas

/like whaat exactly? Also muh laptimes/drag
>>
>>13815172
Anyone who spends that kind of money on a ferrari is a retard, the kind of car you could build yourself for that money... i can only imagine...
>>

lmao those stupid rich people XD

ferrari a shit
inb4 people actually argue about ferrari itt
>>
>>13815183
An r32 nissan skyline for an example, could pick a stock one up for about $10,000 or one that has work done to it already for about $12,000 then spend 18,000 boosting it up to 650kw and bing bang boom ferrari eater.
>>
they are fundamentally status symbols and rolling pictures off excess, that just happen to be fast
>>
>>13815201
yeah but it will drive like shit and generally be shit in all regards except on boost straight line speed

ITT: Poor people who will never own a Ferrari bait the fragile egos of Ferrari fanboys who are also poor and will never own a Ferrari.
>>
>>13815223

THEY MAY BE RICH BUT YOU KNOW HOW TO CHANGE YOUR OWN BRAKE PADS AMIRITE??

Personally I think a great sportscar has to be good-looking, fast around the track, fun to drive and must have some kind of a "soul" has to be "alive" or something like this.
There are many cars which are fast, or beautiful etc. BUT only Ferrari combines all these characteristics.

Ferrari is overpriced though, no doubt.
>>
>>13815211
It is only going to cost you about $6000 to get the engine up to 650kw reliably, the other $12,000 can be spent on the suspension, wheels and brakes.
>>
>>13815201
But so what?, /o/ is obsessed with this thing where its "faster around a track or in a straight line so its better"
>>
>>13815153

They sold themselves out on the stock market. Owned by shareholders now. Expect to see Ferrari econoboxes and suvs next winter desu
>>
>>13815153
>Hate them or love them,
love the old ones, to poor to care about the new ones
>but Ferrari is the most important sportscar-maker in the world
hmm not sure. The cars aren't the best, but the concept might be that important. I think they bring people to love cars, they bring eyes to racing events. It is marketing though.. which is important for the success of racing and the automotive industry

>and THE benchmark for all other competitors.
Not even remotely. If the car didn't have a prancing horse it would be unremarkable in the super car field. A very good car, but the Koniggnoggs perform better, the Porsche's and McLarens perform better, the Paginas are sexier.

But a ferrari is a ferrari, even a shitty 348 will get panties wet etc.
>>
>>13816015
they're cars aren't the best but the name still carries enough clout.
>>
>>13815153
Apple, harley Davidson, ferrari, they're all interested in selling you not the product itself on it's merits, but the lifestyle associated with them, and that's why my autism hates them all
>>
>>13816075
But in the end when you buy a Ferrari you are not buying a "lifesytle" you are buying a fucking car. It doesn't matter how they brand it.
>>
The Cadillac of cars.
>>
>>13815153
Ferrari is the benchmark supercar manufacturer, yeah. I'd say Porsche is the benchmark for less inaccessible sports cars.

Main thing that would put me off buying a Ferrari, if I had the money, is their notorious treatment of their customers. Well, that and driving one as a 20yo uni student would, errrrr, project a certain image, let's say.
>>
Nah, at this point it's just a brand with momentum behind it and without someone hilariously spiteful and Italian at the helm like Enzo Ferrari to make it interesting. Plus all their real influential and iconic road designs were in the past and today there are many many offerings that can beat Ferrari both
as a driver's car and on the track for much less money.
>>
>>13816412
>>13816075
>>13816015
>>13816028

Have any of you people actually driven one?
>>
LOL at the people in this thread saying they "aren't that great" or whatever

they are fucking amazing. they basically are road legal race cars.

>uh yea ferrari a shit but i love my stock na miata
>autism
get a fucking grip on reality
>>
>>13815153
nah, that's McLaren if you're talking about performance. if you're talking about glam then yeah, maybe, but even then it goes to Lamborghini for that
>>
>>13816522
>road legal race cars.

The Speciales, maybe. But no, race cars are a very different bunch of bananas to road-biased sports cars. Even very fast road-biased sports cars.
>>
>>13816522
>road legal race cars
>1.6+ tons
Gixxers, fireblades, these may be road legal race machines. Ferraris are much less race cars than paganis or gumperts or Caterhams or radicals or lotusses or ascaris or ginettas.
That said. I wouldn't turn one down if given for free and am sure it would be as much fun to drive and as fast as my cbr,but if I were to buy a supercar in that range I'd get a mc laren 650, because it's simply a better car
>>
>>13816544
>>13816560
>bench racing autism.

Yeah.. I'm out of this thread. Good luck.
>>
>>13816568
>they're road legal race cars
>gets proven wrong
>d-damn benchracers
>>
>>13816560
Are you high? A 488 will shit on a mclaren 650.

>koegnisek
>pagani
dont make me laugh
>caterham
kek, most of the ferrari models will probably shit all over a caterham

>>13816572
>but it's not a race car dude see race cars are different xDD
it's not my fault you have autism and cant understand hyperbole
>>
>>13816516
I drove a 458 and a 308GTS, that's about it.
I was around long enough to remember how much Ferraris sucked in the 80s.

Ferraris build great cars but the problem is the company is more about marketing a bunch of useless lifestyle shit than the cars nowadays.

And I never really liked Ferraris that much desu.
308GTS, 288GTO, 400i, 612 and those are pretty much the only ones I really like. I'd much rather have a Lotus Esprit than most Ferraris

go back to maranello faggot

just because its the most relevant doesnt mean its good
>>
>>13816516
I drove an F40 for like 3 seconds many many years ago when I worked at a Bentley/Rolls dealership.

It kicked ass, but no Ferrari since has come anywhere near close to how great that thing felt.
>>
>>13816583
It' not hyperbole because road-legal race cars, or road legal track day specials at least, actually exist. They just aren't a category most Ferraris fit into.

If being wrong upsets you so much, perhaps you should do it less often?
>>
the only good ferraris are formula. road ones are garbage.
>>
>>13816700
I'm not wrong. I just can't argue with the retarded opinions of a bench racer. The 488 GTB is about as close as a race car as you are going to get with a nice interior a/c and all the comforts. It's literally a 10 second car right off the showroom. 0-60 in 2.8.. and the suspension to back it up.

Most of Ferrari's models will destroy anything you see at a track day in complete stock trim with stock tires.

Not to mention all the old models which are actual road legal race cars like the challenge cars, the f40, f50, enzo, etc.

and yet the autists of /o/ will trash them anyway and praise some shit heap like a miata. its embarrassing.
>>
>>13816750
a ferrari will probably set itself on fire after 1 lap faggot
>>
>>13816750
Most people can afford a Miata.
A good as Ferraris are most of them just live their entire lives in a garage not being driven
>>
Surprise surprise, old rich white people buy shitty fashion statement cars so that they can get Instagram whores to suck their dicks
>>
>>13816516
have you? have you driven other cars in that market.

I drove a 355, 911, Viper, and Vette in the same day.
>>
>>13816750
That's all well and good, but being a race car doesn't necessarily mean being fast - I'm sure Ferrari would be highly embarrassed if anything in their lineup was beaten by a Caterham academy car or a Clio Cup racer. It means being designed purely to go as fast as possible within a given set of regulations. Which implies a certain absolute directness - nothing superfluous, nothing "just for show, every part geared toward winning. And that just isn't what something like a 488 or an F12 is, and I maintain that you don't need to have driven one to be able to say that.

Not saying they're bad cars, far from it I'm sure, but "road legal race car" is just misleading here.
>>
>>13815171
Then Lamborghini also makes Ferraris.
>>
>>13815153
Not really, nig

>8 years later
>turbo bodykit 458
They're just selling whatever to pay for their racing programs
>>
>>13814219
>inb4 you can buy a _____ and put a ______ in it for half the price and it will be just as fast

>that's not the same

these sour grapes
