Ausfag thieves realise car is too hot and burn it most likely.
Sad.

You know it's going to be restored. I've seen people fix mustangs that were worse than that.

Decent chance it was "stolen" for an insurance payout

If you can afford a Daytona, there's no such thing as impossible.
If you can't find the part , Ferrari will make it for you.
>>
>>13815046
No fucks given at all. The owner is rich as fuck and the car was insured. It will be restored to new condition within a year.

>Decent chance it was "stolen" for an insurance payout
nah wasn't. apparently the owner hadn't changed their insurance for years and they only had it insure for like 450k so they wouldnt have done it for insurance money.

insurance payouts on that sorta stuff only works when the car is over valued by the insurer, which usually isn't the case for collector cars which are quickly rising in value.

what really happened was probably some teens wanted to joyride a ferrari, so they did and then realised the only way to avoid getting caught was to remove all their dna/prints/fibers from the car.

easiest way to do that in a short amount of time is just to torch the fucker

Are people really stupid enough to pay $2 million for a malaise era Ferrari?

I can think of a ton of cars that look way better. Good riddance, this car was ugly as shit.

Nothing of value was lost. These cars were like $30k in the 80s and 90s.

Not really, Miami vice made this car popular. The one in the show was a replica built on a corvette chassis.

i know a guy like that. mostly late 90's stuff but some 123's and 4's and 116's mixed in there too.

they're all original parts too, just not well maintained. Was asking if he would swap out something for my w123 300d and he gave me a look like i was asking him to chop off his sons arm and give it to me.

Hes an odd bloke but really knows his shit. he can tell you the size of the break disc on an 83' 201 off the top of his head.

Uh, you think that was cheap?

I actually work for a vehicle warranty company.

We had a product on the market where body panels were stamped with a black light identification number, and the windows were etched with our contact info and what not to help identify stolen vehicles, since thieves would remove plates and vin tags. Most ended up in Mexico anyways.

Ive only ever had 2 police officers call while investigating.

One was absolutely hilarious.

>Be me
>Working as usual
>get a call
>"This is officer (lets call him bob because I dont remember his name) from the San Diego police department.
>"im sitting here looking at a burnt ford explorer and it has your phone number on it"
>O-okay, ummm.. dod u have a black light sir?
>"Wut"
>Sir, on the vehicle there are 7 different locations that if you shine a black light on it, it will reveal an identification number
>"Uhh hold on, let me call someone to come out wi-HEY,YOU! HEY! STOP RIGHT THERE!"
>im listening on the phone as this grown ass man is huffing and pyffing his way and covering some fucking ground.
>Its like an episode of COPS, only I am not looking at the screen.
>finally I hear this tumbling and the phone drops to the ground.
>out of sheer curiousity i stay on the line. This is the best phone call I have had in months.
>after a few minutes of silence the bro cop comes back, picks up the phone, and says in a moment of triumph "WELL GODDAMN, JUST GOT ME A BORDER JUMPER"

Apparently some mexicans were hiding in the bushes where this officer happened to be investigating the burnt car. They scrambled, and he got one with me on the line. No idea if they were the ones who stole the car, but I like to think so.
