Well I cranked it over today and it unexpectedly fired. More surprising was the fact that it was switched onto the tank that's empty, so it wants to run. I took the not empty tank out today and drained it, hasn't been on the road since 2001 so 14 year old diesel is not a nice to try to run a truck on.
I like the truck and think that the Oldsmobile 5.7l diesel is a very overlooked engine. It did have its problems when it came out, but if you do what my boss did to this one it's a dynamite engine. When's the last time you saw one as well? I always like the querky and interesting and proving people wrong.

I agree, but when it gets cold as shit, like below freezing, or its something annoying like a press-out bearing or a timing belt, I just differ to my mechanic.
Guy charged me $250 to do a timing belt on a transverse dohc v6 with supplied parts, so I can't really complain.
I only have one car but I do everything I can.
