ARGHHHHHHH! I fucked up while installing a new timing chain tensioner on my 01 Jetta and dropped a nut inside the timing chain cover! I can't reach it at all, it's fallen straight down and the only way to remove the cover is to take the suspension and transmission off!

Any ideas on how I can remove the bolt out without having to take the whole damn thing apart? I was thinking of some way to get a small hose that has enough suction, what can I use for it?

You seem to be in quite a pickle. You wouldn't happend to have a flexible stick with a metal attraction piece at the end?

I think a magnet will work but I don't know

Just start the engine. It will spit out your nut by itself.

OP, similar story.
>Replacing vvt solenoid on mom's trailer blazer
>Put paper towel in the socket to hold the bolt in place
>Power steering pump giggles and the bolt drops out of my socket
>Shake the vehicle like a mad man
>Can't reach it by hand
>Open tool kit, grab telescopic magnetic with a led flashlight
>Retrieve bolt

Try a telescopic magnetic. Worked for me.

Picture of solenoid.
