But even 2000's Grand Cherokees had a great 4WD system. I wonder if the new ones are as good. Haven't driven the newest model but I'm not crazy about the looks.
That being said, the 2005 and the new V6 was a huge jump towards losing the offroad image. 2004 still had selectable 4WD and the 2005+ didn't. I think the next gen after that came back with the terrain selection knob though.

Obviously people of today are different then back then. Nobody gives a shit about going outside and offroad to explore, and instead something that has the plushiest confiest ride and coolest air conditioning. So companies like jeep who were originally founded for a vehicle with capabilities for off road, are no longer needed to make such things. It's too bad, but that's the way people live now.

And recent Cherokees up until the newest ones still had somewhat of a "Luxury" look to them. You know they are a $35k+ car when you see them.
The newest one looks like a Kia while the newest Explorer and Tahoe still look like nice cars.

The gen before that was nice too. My mom has a flawless 2008 that is Black on Black (black grill, trim) and it is clean as fuck. Always spotless too, gets it washed twice a week.
I'm thinkin about trying to buy it from her when she gets something else.
The MJ was my first vehicle, and I always wondered why they never brought it back. Seems like it would have a buying base even in today's economy.
