Eating cookies without milk is like enjoying a spoonful of peanut butter without a heavy dose of chocolate. It doesn't make sense and leaves you feeling completely empty inside.
And yet the Girl Scouts of America have been selling their delectable cookies outside of grocery stores and shopping malls without milk for nearly 100 years. Is this tragic omission actually an opportunity for another group of entrepreneurial youngsters?
In a cute stunt from Goodby Silverstein & Partners, "The Scouts Milk Mission" tapped a group of Boy Scouts to track down Girl Scouts selling cookies and make sure plenty of milk was accessible for all those hungry cookie lovers. The young boys and girls that participated in the mission not only got to enjoy the milk-and-cookie combo, but also earned a badge for their hard work.
"We were excited to make 'The Scouts Milk Mission' happen quickly because it's kind of ridiculous that we haven't been doing this for the last 100 years," said Kate Catalinac, the creative director on the project. "Who can have cookies without milk? Savages, that's who."
The campaign is an extension of the popular and longstanding "Got Milk?" campaign and rolls out just in time to celebrate National Girl Scouts Weekend. While "Got Milk?" is no longer the tagline used by the national milk industry (it adopted the tagline "Milk Life" in 2014), the California Milk Processor Board still uses the iconic line in its marketing.

http://www.thestar.com/news/queenspark/2016/02/25/ontario-budget-lowers-post-secondary-tuition-while-hiking-gas-costs.html
Seems like a step in the right direction, but it bothers me that it's only going to affect a certain group of people.
>>25583
you mean only a portion of the population will directly benefit from the tution waivers. Indirectly, this could help employers, tax payers (an educated workforce may mean more people in Ontario getting decent jobs or more businesses relocating to the province), more educated citizens may be better at making choices when it comes to voting, saving, and health practices, and so forth. Mind you these are all possible indirect effects.
As for the gas tax everyone is directly effected by this. I'd personally like to see more people in Toronto on bikes, on the street cars (we need twice as many street cars), subways, etc. rather than driving around. Shit, I just wish the province we reduce the cost of riding the GO Train. I don't know how it is any less expensive to live in Toronto than it is to live in Pickering if one has to take the train in each day.
While I would rather not pay more for fuel, it's still going to be cheaper than 1996-2006. And we had some pretty fucking neato cars due to the need for fuel economy. Little 4 cylinder turboed things like the Eagle Premier, for example.
But I qualify for this subsidized post secondary education. I can use this to uplift myself. I'm really thankful for it
>>25583
Great more money being stolen out of my pocket to help other provinces except mine, at least it's not Quebec though.

What is this?
> We can execute missions to Mars, but it takes several months for a vehicle to reach the Red Planet. Even then, those missions have to be launched during the most optimal launch windows, which only occur every 2 years. But the minds at NASA never stop thinking about this problem, and now Dr. Philip Lubin, Physics Professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara, may have come up with something: photonic propulsion, which he thinks could reduce the travel time from Earth to Mars to just 3 days, for a 100 kg craft.
> The system is called DEEP IN, or Directed Propulsion for Interstellar Exploration. The general idea is that we have achieved relativistic speeds in the laboratory, but haven't taken that technology—which is electromagnetic in nature, rather than chemical—and used it outside of the laboratory. In short, we can propel individual particles to near light speed inside particle accelerators, but haven't expanded that technology to the macro level.
> Directed Energy Propulsion differs from rocket technology in a fundamental way: the propulsion system stays at home, and the craft doesn't carry any fuel or propellant. Instead, the craft would carry a system of reflectors, which would be struck with an aimed stream of photons, propelling the craft forward. And the whole system is modular and scalable.

It’s not easy being Pika.
Considering that every word Pikachu has said in a Pokémon anime or video game over the last 20 or so years is some variation of the Pocket Monster’s own name, you might be surprised to know that the character has an actual voice actress, Ikue Otani. You might also be a little jealous that she gets to voice the adorable mascot of not just one, but two of Japan’s most popular entertainment franchises, as she’s also the voice actress for One Piece’s Tony Tony Chopper.
However, that’s not to say playing the role of Pikachu is a cushy job for Otani. “When I first started, people would make fun of me by saying ‘Lucky you-all you have to say is “Pika pika,”’” recalled Otani in an interview for Japan’s Yomiuri Shimbun earlier this month.
In actuality, though, her job is much more involved. Limited as Pikachu’s dialogue may be in terms of vocabulary, it’s not like Otani can just show up at the start of each new Pokémon installment and lay down a half-dozen sound clips to be mixed and matched for the rest of the season. Each time Pikachu speaks, he’s conveying a different emotion, which in turn requires a different delivery with a new recording.
You wouldn’t know that just from looking at the script, though. “All that the scripts have for my lines is something like ‘Pika Pikachu,’ but if I don’t thoroughly understand what Pikachu is trying to say, and plan out my performance accordingly, the proper feeling won’t come across to the audience at all,” Otani explained.
Otani also revealed that she’s a bit of a would-be Pokémon Master herself, as she enjoys playing the series’ video game chapters.

>Mr Cook told ABC his company first learned of the controversial request when it was reported in the news media.
>However, a source close to the investigation told the BBC Mr Cook's claim was "simply not true", and that Apple's legal team was "the first to know".
Odd.
>Elsewhere, the New York Times reported that Apple had begun working on an upgrade to its devices which would make it impossible to break into an iPhone using the method proposed by the FBI in this case.
>The FBI has argued that Apple is overstating the security risk to its devices. FBI Director James Comey said Apple had the technical know-how to break into Farook's device only in a way that did not create a so-called "backdoor" into every Apple device.
The FBI really doesn't like the term "Back-Door." Apple phones might become the most secure smart phones out there because of this...
