Here's a better idea: stop building roads, and bar cages from using the existing ones
Then maybe idiots would stop buying property 3 hours away from anything useful, and then another 363,241 people buy property in the same isolated patch of land, and then they all bitch and moan about not enough roads and we have to build about fifty more

Tear down every interstate highway in the middle of metropolitan areas and build real mixed-use neighborhoods modeled on traditional patterns of development - low-rise buildings with businesses on the ground floor and residences on upper floors.

This is stupid and would never happen.
1. There's nowhere near enough traffic to justify it.
2. The Interstate highway system generally doesn't allow tolls, which would pose a problem for the new Narrows bridge.
3. Nobody in any of the communities along that route would approve of an interstate grade freeway.

The Interstate Highway System does not allow tolls on new highways, and for the most part, interstate toll roads do not receive federal funds -- they're just part of the Interstate system so that I-80 doesn't have gaping holes in it.
Also, according to the FHWA, "freeway" means "free-flowing" i.e. limited access highway.
