There's no real advantage to fixies. It's just a different way to ride.

They are easier to fix/clean/maintain, they are generally cheaper and don't look as appealing to thieves with everything bolted on with no brakes and clipless pedals

That's the main reason I bought it. My lock is worth 1/2 as much as the bike

I know this isn't related to the bike but NEVER use stationary bike lube. My chain attracts more dust than a vacuum cleaner; my silver sprcoket is now black and if i think touching the right side of the bicycle my hands get dirty instantly.

Anyway, i imagine those bars are only comfortable if you're riding on the ramps.

How does one manage that?
Looks nice and tidy. Is that saddle period correct? Looks too modern and ugly, maybe stick something brown on there.
>>970861
Yeah, I didn't put that saddle on there. Definitely not period correct and I think it might even be a women's saddle. I'll change it soon.
Anyway, the 12 to 6 conversion...
Long story short I ended up stripping out the derailleur hanger so I had to order one of the $8 eBay XUNDAH derailleurs that attaches by the dropouts. Because the derailleur hanger is in the way, I'm only able to use my bottom 3 gears. It's supposed to be temporary, but every shop I ask about fixing my stripped hanger ignores me so maybe not.
>>970864
Damn that sucks. A possible solution would be to get a derailer with a longer bolt (or replace it with a longer one) and then stick a nut on the other side. If you wanted a proper fix that'd probably mean welding up the hole and drilling a new one, I don't think it would be very easy to helicoil (short large diameter thread with not muc material around it).

This. If the mech will move freely to a position, then it was designed to do so.
>>971661
I should buy a new post because the seat is in the right spot relative to the pedals
>>971697
That wouldn't happen even if it was at the maximum rotation, which it wouldn't be even in the lowest gear. The pulleys on a derailer can rotate further than if the chain was completely straight from front to rear.

>>972508

>>972518
Display resolution and camera resolution are two different things. By the end of the 1980s there were indeed cameras with a resolution as high as that or even greater. That said there were also display standards for resolutions that high in the late 1980s to early 1990s, although I have no idea how readily available monitors of that resolution were.
>>972522

only difference is the frame color is reverse on my build (limeaid green on matte black). shop dude said he wanted this frame but he needed to use the black-on-green one because he travels a lot with it and it's a real attention-grabber.

Just came here to post this
Didn't submit it in time

Just means you have shit Q-factor and are wasting power
Fixed the QR and put a rack on. Also drivetrain side.

Start rubbing then.
>Tfw new bike matches club kit perfectly
>>973357
You don't need to be matchy matchy. It's too much.
>>973358
But how will I pretend to be pro if everything isn't perfect? My clubmates must know that I am very serious!
But no seriously it's actually pretty coincidental. I'm thinking about changing my first claim club next year and their colours are black and pink so...

Absolutely hideous.
It's astonishing how deftly the individually attractive parts combine to create something so ugly.

Alright man thanks for the input. Have any suggestions?
>>973368
The red tires have to go immediately and stay gone forever.
The matte black cranks are jarring. Silver would look better.
>>973371
The BB is square taper and this crank was one of the only ones I could find that was double. What's wrong with the tires? If I upgrade to lugano they'll be gone.

Looks good. Yea, it would look better with quality black tires, but it looks good regardless. Saddle matches hoods matches frame, tape matches crank matches rims matches rack matches saddle rails. Excellent budget build imo. Upgrading the pads is probably a good idea if you ride in the rain much.

>>973413
Nice dude. Remove reflectors asap. Your front brake cable looks fucked too. The bell i like.
I am so jealous of all of you. I have a mountain bike that I bought for $25, not even close to the worst looking bike posted in this thread.
>>971623
They hell do you have a long cage mtb derailleur on a 1x with a relatively normal looking cassette?
Otherwise, nice looking bike.
>>973076
>>973120 has it right, they're Tektro levers modified by Gevenalle with mounts for bar-end shifters, and the ones on my bike are 9-speed Shimano shifters.
It's one of the only really good ways to get decent shifters on a drop-bar mountain bike. It would be easier if I was doing a 1x setup - a Shimano 9-speed or 10-speed brifter will shift a 9-speed MTB rear derailleur just fine. But there's that pesky problem of the cable pull ratio on the front derailleur... I've modified derailleurs before, but Gevenalle's solution is bulletproof. The downside is you can't shift while in the drops, only from the hoods.
just finished touching up the paint, adding a few clearcoats, doing a complete rebuild & wheel rebuilds, & a deep clean
ain't she purdy?
>>973480
Found this lying around today. Everything but the tires is in good condition. Scrubbed off surface rust on the wheels and rack. Brake pads look pretty new.
Ignore the IG filter.
>>973451
Post it.
Just bought last weekend
>>973560
looks like a nice ride, with different looking wheels would be very classy
>>973572
Lovely, except for the rotting saddle
>>973560
I like it. What's the issue with it?
>>973572
Nicely done, how much ?
Bit too big for me so I need to replace it, gonna get something a bit more modern. Downtube shifters are a pain in the ass.
But nevertheless it's good for some rootin tootin commutin
>>973595
Also my shoes are fucked so I changed to stock plastic pedals in the interim before you jump on me.
>>973595
>bit too big for me
Your saddle is waaaaaay the fuck back on the rails and at a fucked up angle. Flatten it out and move it forward.
>>973606
I forgot to mention that you are allowed to save in cringe folder.
>>973604
Well...
there's nothing intrinsically awful about it except the frame, components, and paint scheme.
>kickstand at all

>>973604
What have you fucking done to me /n/?
I get triggered by a kickstand! And i used be a proponent of those before mine broke and i never bothered to replace it.
>>973604
take this down and get the fuck out of my /n/
put together from a buddy's spare parts
>>973606
>>973615
what's so wrong with it though?
I had a MTB that also had lines that way, which is the only very obvious thing I'd say I dislike about it
just clean it and protect it against further rust progression and maybe get some better components and as long as it gets you from A to B it's a decent bike, especially for what you're saying you paid for it
also as long as it isn't rusted af I'd actually advise against doing a full paint job because it's a fucking chore. If you don't like this bike so much rather than wasting money on paint just start saving for a better one.

>>973598
Forgive me I'm a cycling noob when it comes to riding position. I got this for free last year and only started riding for fun with it rather than commuting in March. Just did what you suggested and it allowed me to raise the seat tube an inch and a half. Feels considerably better although I feel it is still a touch too big.
>>973631

>gift ribbon

>gaspipe
what?
>twist shifters

>grips moved inboard for no reason
I think there was a bit that came off and they actually did cover the ends of the handlebar
>smooth platforms
I assume the previous owner went to the shop and just got whatever pedals they had cheapest
>seatpost hyperextended
simple adjustment and it's fixed
>>973642
If you're going to be like that then the whole bike can be replaced, which makes judging any bike completely pointless.
>gift ribbon
The shitty lock
>gas pipe
Usually refers to shitty steel frames, no idea if that particular one is actually steel.
>>973631
Nothing wrong with V-brakes, a cable lock is good enough to keep someone from drunkenly riding away on it before leaving it in a ditch, and it's obvious the grips are moved inwards because the bike is missing it's bar ends.
>>973644
what I mean is that most of what you list is either a non issue or something easily dealt with
you might not like the frame but as long as it isn't just outright bent or rusted through it will do the job of a bike.
I too do like a pretty bike, but between no bike at all and not a particularly pretty one I'll always take the bike and treat it with respect as long as it's good to ride.
>>973631
what do you ride?
>>973634
It is not a very big frame.
If you are of roughly average height it should be fine for you. "It Feels Too Big" could be symptomatic of quite a number of different things - all of which can be adjusted.
I'm guessing that you don't feel like it's too big, you feel like you are having to bend and/or reach too far to the hoods. You should raise the bars a few millimeters. Since you have a quill stem, this is easily accomplished by loosening the stem bolt and gently (or not so gently) twisting the bars back & forth to pull the stem to a slightly higher position in the steertube. Then straight the bars out and re-tighten the stem bolt. You may also need to re-adjust your brake cable tension a bit after doing this.
Apparently /n/ has created another car driver, I will put this back in the trash and save up for a used car.
>>973650
I've got an OTS with moustache bars & integrated shifters, a decent carbon road bike, and a low-end but modestly upgraded hardtail 29er.
>>973648
>either a non issue or something easily dealt with
But we're judging the bikes on what it is, not what it could be. What it is is, is a piece of shit.
Sure you could keep the frame and upgrade everything else but 1. the owner is very unlikely to do that, they'll probably keep it as it is until it gets stolen or breaks 2. it'd still be pretty shitty.
>I too do like a pretty bike, but between no bike at all and not a particularly pretty one I'll always take the bike
And that's completely fine, I'm sure most people on here would agree with that. That still doesn't stop it from being a shitty bike though and that's the only point that we're trying to make.
>>973658
Or you could save up for a half decent commuter bike.
>>973658
Awww, anon...
This is 4chan. You've got to expect a degree of shitposting.
It's not about the bike, it's about the ride.
>>973658
nah mate, just fix the pedals, shifters, handles and the seatpost and you're golden
maybe even invest in a lock if you expect to need one
don't let elitist faggots get you down
>>973658
you don't need to be a spandex wearing faggot with an OTS to enjoy your ride
>>973655
You got it. However i went out for a little test ride on it and it does feel a lot better. I was more concerned abouy the sizong because i had so little seatpost showing before. And i was over reaching because the seat was so far back which made it uncomfortable to even stay on the hoods for extended periods of time. Bringing the seat forwards changed this considerably.
Pic related, it now looks like this. The seat angke I cant do much about. I definitely need a new saddle though. Its comfortable enough like this but I know it isn't right. I rode with the saddle angled up more when I first got it but it gave me numb dick. I changed it and now its fine and i got complacent amd never bothered to change it.
Thanks for your help anyway. Im really enjoying the bike so far.
This is my first road bike. That first ride was really a paradigm shift. How'd I do for 250 McDoubles?
>>973484
Night time shot after replacing the tires. I thought it'd need a new chain but seems good. Still needs bar tape though and I need to move the brake levers :s
>>973882
Forgot pic dang it
>>971671
do you have tiny femurs?
>>973622

this bike either doesn't fit you, or you have the saddle too low/far back, or you have long femurs, a long torso, and tiny shins.
>>973709
>Claud Butler
is that a custom framebuilder? looks like some flavor of Reynolds tubing, should be a pretty sweet frame.
what's that buttplug-looking thing on the bars?
>>973883
low tier components but great as a found bike. really cool look and saddle, great condition. some old dept store brand? don't recognize the logo but the laurel wreath is a classy look.
>>974052
Nah Claud Butler used to be quite a large scale manufacturer in the UK. Fallen from grace nowadays and just make utility bikes and cheap crap roadies.
Its 531 tubing. And the buttplug is a bell that I robbed because my commute to work is full of dog walkers!
>>974078
Amd just to add, i think its probably from the late 80s to early 90s. Based on the Shimano exage groupset and when I got it the bar tape was the kind of purple camo that was trendy around Pantanis time and looked like it hadn't been changed in a long long time.
Commute bike, frame is a little too small. Waiting for money.

Why not one good road bike and then a mountain bike and an electric bike?
