Do people on this board actually take music reviews seriously? Can people not form their own opinion on a piece of music without having to make sure it matches the opinion of some internet celebrity? Do people honestly believe that art can be assigned an arbitrary number to determine it's quality? I'm sure that a lot of people just want to hear about what they listened to from someone else's point of view, but people like OP for instance seem to use Fantano's subjective score as an objective fact. It's the same when someone discusses a classic album and someone else will inevitably bring up Scaruffi's rating, using this as an argument to say the album is good or bad.
I like reading reviews, but usually only after I've had to chance to form my own opinion.

fantano is shit though
i watch him as him being an entertainer rather than a critic. I just like his vibes, the whole culture around him. His voice is soothing too and literally the only person I know whom I can listen to for so long rambling about stuff even if I don't agree with him. His videos are well produced too with subtle humor. Also to me he feels more of a /mu/tant than a youtube critic so that helps me relate and stay interested. Comments on his videos are kek worhty too. Cal is a legend. So yeah he is more of an entertainer to me.

This, reviews are great for telling you more things about a piece of music you wouldn't find otherwise.
music critique isn't about being told how to think. in general I think it's more about music analysis, understanding views of music different than your own, and forming a common language to discuss music with your peers.
furthermore, reviews often make comparisons to other music that one can delve into to widen ones horizons, and the scoring system helps inform the audience what kind of music taste the reviewer has.

Why do you care how people form their opinions on music? I see his videos as entertainment and slight analysis of the music, but people should listen to the music, not some guy talking about it.
