It's consumer pop garbage completely designed for kids who want to whine about everything. Modest mouse, death cab for cutie, why?, and built to spill already explored the happy music-sad lyric possibilities fairly extensively, plus they actually had personality.
Unlike josh (I think that's his name?) who claims to only hang out with "crazy" people, and fakes a tic in the cringiest way, because children love romanticizing mental illness.
Also I actually thought twenty one pilots was a clothing brand before I saw them on /mu/, because they're entirely based around selling merch instead of innovating
