I don't get it.
What's the appeal? This is not a "le unpopular opinion" thread, I'd honestly like to know what people value in this album?
Solid rock album on par with the good stuff coming out at the time and much better than some of the very
generic rock albums at that time. Maybe a bit overrated but it's still good.
It's basically Ziggy Part 2: Electric Boogaloo in America. It's just a bunch of good glam rock Bowie wrote while touring in America for Ziggy Stardust. Ziggy is the superior album, but this is a continuation of the Ziggy character and mindset.
It's just fun stuff, don't take it all too seriously now.

I guess there isn't any Glam Rock I really like so maybe I should stop trying. I've been listening to it over and over again trying to understand where the 9/10s come from.
This is one of those albums where the cover art leaves a greater impression than the content itself. With that said, it has some great songs.
It's just good old catchy hard rock.
Ziggy Stardust + fun. If you don't get it, I don't know what else to say. I see you're not into other glam rock so maybe the "fun" part is lost on you.

did you like any of Bowie's other stuff from 1971-1974?

Ziggy Stardust is something I can appreciate but not listen to on a regular basis. This one just kinda flies by me.
Just well produced and performed rock songs. Its a great album imo but I can see how people dont love it especially if they arent big Bowie fans.
It's a heavier better version of Ziggy Stardust
