Listen to lots and lots of music. Start in your comfort zone and branch out whenever you get bored. Post in chart threads, rec people as best you can otherwise you'll probably get ignored. Look up the charts on the wiki. Build your own taste, don't feel pressured into liking something just because /mu/ does. Get last.fm.
