Personally my favorite album is Freaky Styley, with Goerge Clinton from P-Funk producing and it basically being all funk. The Frusciante period was fun as hell too though.

Personally, what I don't understand, is how highly rated bssm is. It's not that good. It's watered down funky radio rock. In the later albums they became a lot more self aware and made some very well thought out, lush pop rock and it'll be some of my most cherished music forever.
Honestly their earlier stuff holds some of their best material. If you want decent funk and rhcp it's freaky styley you should listen to, not bssm.

Favorite band of all time. When I listen to music I don't really care what I'm listening to as long as it gets me that feeling somewhere in between a really nice hot shower and an orgasm. They always seem to hit the right notes. Finally got to seem them live at Werchter last week.
The Albums with John are all legendary but I'm with you and the getaway have some solid tracks on them. I mean listen to this fucking intro and outro. Just listen!

Later when they went towards a more Poppy sound I lost interest and anything after Californication is sorta meh for me. They released a few good singles since then though and there new album looks promising (haven't really given it a listen yet).

They're getti,g somewheres with it. They're more courting a jazzlike approach with josh's incessant improvising, and chad altering the drums drastically, forcing kiedis and flea to try to be finer in their approaches + all the synths don't allow for a blockheadedrock thing anymore. They're slowly finding a balance, i think. And josh's soloing is wonderfull on its own already, imo.
I only like their early stuff and the albums they did with John Frusciante. Stadium Arcadium was their last good album.
Only Mother's Milk and Blood Sugar Sex Magik are good

I really don't get why anyone would judge them on the albums. They should be wholly judged on how they perform live. I think, at bottom, that's what they themselves want. They're still oldstyle. By token, they're not metallica, they're abba. A group solely known for its live self.

Normally I wouldn't listen to them on purpose, but fuck it they don't work great with driving, especially if I'm going along a long stretch of highway. Somehow it just all fits together really well. Especially stuff like Otherside and Scar Tissue.

Everything they did with this dude is great. One Hot Minute is good too.

But Froosh knew how to make some very pretty melodies and the chemistry between him and Flea is what made this band amazing.
People tend to overthink about this band and criticize it for things they aren't guilty about, they're just a chill, simple and fun band. People that hate them aren't fun or chill to be honest family.
