I think it's a good mixture of pastiche and sincerity. They are simultaniously taking the piss out of a genre, but creating a brilliant example at the same time. "It's Gonna Be Alright" used to really throw me off because there wasn't any clear irony or anything, but now I take it for the nice bittersweet song it is

yeah like 3 times.
It's just stripped down shoegazey pop emulating brian wilson. The beats, the melodies, they try to hide it under layers of distortion and walls of sound but it's clearly just a few tumblr kids taking a shot at SMiLE.
I would've enjoyed it way more if it hadn't been lauded to me as some kind of epic mesozoic opus.
