Hello friends and shitposting embryos, this is a thread for experimental music discussion. To clarify: Noise, drone, electroacoustic, free improvisation, futurism, indeterminacy, musique concrete, sound collage, and all that good stuff.
What have you been listening to? What have you been making? Movie and literature recommendations, concert experiences, gear, etc. are all welcome

I liked the unsettling atmosphere and it being somewhat chaotic
I'm not good at describing as to why I like music, but that's the best I can do
>>66267251

You didn't grow out of shitposting yet.

What's up Anti-Montie?
What's some good onkyo/lowercase/eai from 2015 or 2016? I haven't kept up with any of that for a couple years.
I did hear album, Amorphous Spores, and loved it.
>>66272099
*hear this album
>>66272099
This one is really nice.
>>66272099
I really enjoyed this one, though I could see people not liking it, as it's one simple idea throughout the album with slight variances in each track. It's quite hypnotic to listen to, at parts my mind tricks me into thinking the tracks are speeding up or down even though they aren't.
>>66271757
I quite enjoyed Miseri Lanes, I'll have to check this out later.
>>66272099
The new Erstwhile releases I've heard were all pretty good.
>>66268196
You were listening to your own album.
Is there a chart for Musique concrète? I can't find anything.
Where do I go/start for electro acoustic music that strictly uses guitars? So like guitars being electronically manipulated to make some weird sounds.
>>66275040
There's a musique concrete chart in the archives. Surprised its not on mu wiki.
>>66275132
Here's a couple:

>>66275132
this track is lovely
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zyyw6zTmqwQ
ambarchi in general is excellent, but only some of his stuff is strictly guitar.
also if anyone has this comp id be very grateful; i cant find it anywhere.
>>66273315
I can't really think of many releases on the label that I don't enjoy, even the worst ones were sorta almost decent.
edgy idiomatic trash =/= experimental you fucking plebs
how do I get into lowercase?
>>66277813
I agree that your post isn't experimental.
>>66278096
i agree that your deflection is pathetic
I appreciate the desire to expand the vocabulary of music itself by creating new things, but I really want to see what's genuinely worthwhile in these styles
I get the impression that the sorts of people who are interested in exploring new compositional techniques are usually the ones with the least to say to start with. it's like they're musical scholars with a bit of delusion as to their ultimate significance, so they attempt something new, even if it's totally artificial and nobody asked for it. but they have this touching faith that someone somewhere will discover their score (with a completely original system of notation!) and say "aha! this is exactly what I was looking for!"
pretty harsh, but you could have listed "serialism" in that list, and it would have blended right in, yeah? and why would that be? because it's still listened to as "experimental music" because there's no chance for anyone to mistake it for "popular music" - even though highly-complex compositions by Beethoven and Schubert would be intuitively disqualified precisely because of their listenability
tell me all the reasons why this is wrong, but I want to see this sort of discussion improve, because genre limitations that basically exclude in principle anything the could ever find a large audience seems like a self-defeating process. kind of like promising to underdeliver if it means we get to keep this thing underground, niche, and ours
prove me wrong, guys. prove me wrong.
>>66278168
He btfo you, don't cry for mommy teen.
>>66278244
>but I want to see this sort of discussion improve
You start, namefag.
I don't get trilogie de la mort people help me
>>66278096
Holy shit, that was such an epic BTFO,
>>66277813
got annihilated lmfao!
>>66267251
I like these more then the noise generals. They are more diverse, and have a lot more potential. Also it's hilarious to read the plebians complain about them before going back to listen to their entry level /mu/core trash, those babies get triggered so easily and are easily baited.
>>66278570
>then
I see, you are so much smarter than these fucking embryos
>>66278504
only reason why I use a name, is I get frustrated when it's several anons getting confused with each other's posts - it becomes a clusterfuck that wastes time.
so do you have any issue with what I said, or are you happy with just ad hominem-ing my ass?
>>66278593
Yes I am, one slight typo doesn't negate my massive intellectual superiority over /mu/core drones.
>>66278604
You didn't do anything to contribute to the thread, if you want these threads to improve than post something interesting instead of complaining.
>>66278604
>>66278645
>typo
keep telling yourself that :^)
>>66278656
u are so stupid and care to much about grammer and correct speeling kys nerd
>>66278645
people generally call Cecil Taylor experimental, and I think this is pretty incredible:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDiT1DIcaa4
thing is, I define everything I listen to as part of a tradition, so by definition everything more or less must be a natural progression of what came before
which is why "experimental" feels like such an unwieldy term: it could either be almost everything or barely anything at all.
>>66272398
nigga where did you find this shit I looked on slsk and in the archives.
>>66278652
>he thinks tripfags and namefags are the same
t. A fucking idiot
This is about as experimental as it gets
I make intricate ethereal power electronics with elements of acoustic instrumentation.

holy shit this is amazing
>>66282247
expected to hate it but this is really good
>>66282247
Wow lil yachty is better than I thought he'd be
>>66282247
I love this, does yachty rap like this on any other track?
An oldie but what does /mu/ think of this experimental masterpiece that redefined pop music?
>>66282247
FUCK THIS GOES HARD
>>66282247
wow i thought lil yachty was a meme until i heard this
>>66275132
Any other archives to check besides rbt.asia? The one there isn't saved for some reason.
>>66282247
God damn
>>66282247
Lit
>>66282247
Eh, it's nice. The beat isn't exactly original, and it gets kind of annoying. Lil Yachty's flow there is no doubt insane, but also pretty incoherent (I notice he even had to take his gold retainer out for this one). I've enjoyed other Lil Yachty tracks before, but I'm not sure if I'll return to this one.
