I am a huge fan of krautrock. I know it has fans and I know that it's been very influential. Trouble is, i don't know really any other fans outside of record store employees, so i have very few people to talk to about it. Does /mu/ like krautrock? Anyone want to shoot the shit about favorite albums and whatnot?

I like Neu. Funny this is, the first time I went to a record store, I got their s/t and the guy said he liked it. Maybe they're popular with that crowd.
Do Faust count? I also really like them
>>66229466
>communism
Ew, sorry my dude, but im outta here
>>66229495
>Do Faust count? I also really like them
nah
the band that coined the term krautrock definitely isnt krautrock my friend
>>66229544
Well, fuck. I couldn't remember.
>>66229524

>>66229524
Your loss. I don't see what's wrong with Communists
>>66229495
of course they do. Did you see that documentary where they are using a broom and a cement mixer as instruments? that was fun.
>>66229495
The people who work at my local record stores are often big krautrock fans. idk why but I ain't complaining. Who can resist some 70s Tangerine Dream?
>>66229565
Also, CAN is one of my favorite bands.

that's actually interesting, one of the record store clerks i've talked to said his favorite band is Can. That's what those sort of people like i guess
>>66229821
Who knows. Record store employees have esoteric taste
i should work at a record store
what is krautrock. how does it differ from any other kind of rock.
>>66230046
It's more of a scene than a genre
>>66230046
it was a musical movement in 70's Germany that became extremely important to experimental and underground music. similar to prog rock
>>66229792
You are just an all around fuck up huh Birdqueer
>>66230046
70s prog rock but from Germany
>>66229466
krautrock was approved by the patrician council a long time ago
>>66229466
I actually host a krautrock show at my colleges radio station!
>>66233174
What's it like working college radio?
>>66233182
It's a lot of fun. Only problem is my tastes differ from the other DJs a lot. Like my fav genres are noise, power electronics, and metal and hip hop. So I really have to try hard to like some of their music. A lot of it is just shitty twee-pop. But overall 8/10
>>66229556
communism was invented in germany, gov
what's more, east germany was under soviet administration for several decades, including the time when krautrock was relevant
>>66233174
hi kevin
>>66233271
What
>>66233221
embrce twee
>>66229466
Krautrock is boring pretentious garbage
>>66229495
>>66229675
Neu! and Can are very popular. I think anyone who's into music likes them or would at least be able to talk about them. Maybe you need more friends who are into music.
>>66233693
Can is way more popular than Neu
>>66230046
It's like prog rock but instead of taking influence from baroque music and jazz it has more in common with 20th century avant garde classical (Stockhausen, minimalism, etc)
>>66233256
Yeah but krautrock is from west germany you nigger
Ever heard of the Berlin wall
>>66233256
If you actually knew anything about east germany than you would know that all art was regulated by the government. all of the big krautrock bands came from non communist west germany, Can was from München.
>>66233662
well that's just, like, your opinion, man
Berlin School > Krautrock
>Does /mu/ like krautrock?
Faust's s/t and the Can trilogy are literally /mu/core
