audiophile quality should not be portable. it should be something done in private by yourself or with others who share your hi fi interests.

portable music listening shouldn't really mattery quality wise since there's no way you can listen to 192 kbps or higher in any lossy format while 'on the go' and still be able to discern a noticeable difference in quality.

plus that difference shouldn't trump the most important aspect of music...the enjoyment of the melody and harmony.

obviously hardcore audiophiles are just listening for the highest resolution, not necessarily for the enjoyment of melody or harmony, but those kinds of people are the minority.

tl;dr

don't buy that overpriced sony or any other portable high res player and just stick to your phone as your primary portable media player. at home is where you should have a nice high res media center.
